sandy point shoal and baltimore lighthouses

we left bright and early friday, september 20th. our first stop was just before we crossed the bay bridge at sandy point park to catch a view of the sandy point shoal lighthouse. this was a bonus light on the challenge, so not a mandatory light to complete. we got directions online, but then got a little turned around, so we waved down a park ranger and he told us the road out to where we needed to go was closed! no!!!! we explained to him what we were doing and told him all about the 10 children and 2 husbands we had left at home and he graciously escorted us to these amazing views. we were like "awww yeah! starting the challenge off right!"
then there was a cool pirate ship passing behind as we took pictures.
sandy point shoal lighthouse, we will see you up close someday! some sweet day we will charter a boat and go see all of our water lights.

then as we were standing there taking a million and one pictures, we looked to our left and spied another lighthouse! a lighthousers dream! two lighthouses for the price of one! score!!!
can you see it out there?
we checked our lighthouse maps and figured out that it was the baltimore lighthouse.

we tried and tried to get a picture of us together, but it was just too far away. oh well. :)

that was a cool park. we'd like to take our families back for a picnic. from there you have a view of the baltimore and sandy point lighthouses and the bay bridge. just a few miles to the other side of the bay bridge is the thomas point shoal lighthouse. pretty cool! it would have been such a sight to see all the lights dotted all around the water.
