Earth day is every day

Thursday the 1st grade has their concert. Delaney and 3 friends got to lead the audience in the pledge of allegiance and she rocked it.

The sang a cute song about every day being earth day, and then each of the classes sang a song.

The class before hers did a cute rap, complete with sunglasses and hats. D’s class had a dance with it too, but it was really kind of a downer song about the trees falling and how time is running out.

Shes such a cool cat.

She sang sweetly and was just a model 1st grader. A 1st grader who loves the earth.

We were chatting after school and Laura sent me a picture of Laney’s pink boots because she’d left them down by the stream. Then Laura and i wondered how she got back from the stream to the house without her shoes to which she replied “I don’t know!” 🤷‍♀️

Thursday was Sarah’s birthday, so we had a girls night at Chelsea’s. I made a cake and we played games. So grateful for these wonderful friends. And Isla the sleepy rag doll. 😂

Sarah, Sarah, and I stayed till 3:30. 7:30 came around reeeal early this morning. 💤

This morning a bunch of us met at Laura’s to help clean and help with their move. At noon we broke away for a going away lunch at salsas. I had planned on coming home to change out of my work clothes but then... didn’t.

I am so blessed to be surrounded by so many wonderful ladies!

Recognition night

Wednesday was Activity Days Recognition Night. They played Minute to Win it games with their dads. Since we have 2 girls, Frankie got to invite Christian along to be her partner. Lucky he’s here and was excited to go!

While they played, Delaney and I had a rs date. Rs date with my rs baby, just like old times! First we stopped at Dunkin Donuts to get one of Kathy’s favorite treats for her, and of course one for ourselves too.

Then we went to visit Kathy at the nursing home. She and Lihu were in a bad car accident and she’ll be at the nursing home for at least another month. We had a good visit and d was a perfect rs baby.

Addie asked me to come look at her organizing and this color scheme made me sooo happy.

Karen and Carolee shared funny MtWi pics.

Looks like everyone had fun!

The girls did even or odd to see who got to be Matt’s partner and who Christians, and both girls seemed happy with their assigned partners.

I asked who won and all parties said it wasn’t really a winning kind of evening.

The concentration!

And as a bonus shot, when we went shopping for Matt’s birthday present Frankie found this water bottle she wants. Not sure it’s big enough though..

Canoeing around

I started some laundry this morning and was putting away the Easter bins when Lorrie from school called. Addies class found themselves in need of 2 volunteers to go on their field trip leaving in 15 minutes, and could I make it? We had a presidency meeting scheduled, but family comes first, especially when it’s just an easily rescheduled meeting. I threw some snacks into lunch box and hit the road. It helps that I went on a field trip right before spring break.

Not sure how excited Addie was to have me. She wasn’t thrilled that i squeezed onto their seat with them, but we shared a bus with 2nd grade so there really wasn’t a lot of room. She did thank me at bedtime for going, so that made me happy.

We learned about ecosystems and habitats and then talked about safety forever.

And then finally it was time to walk down to the river.

And more safety!

It was just all so pretty. And beautiful weather! I love Spriiiing!

Eva sat up front, Addie in the back, and I got to plop right into the middle.

I was told to sit down and shut up. Not really, but basically. We took an oar, but they said we weren’t allowed to use it or give directions. So this princess got canoed all around the Patuxent River.

It was so calm and gorgeous.

I got splashed a few times, but other than that it was quite enjoyable.

We were tasked with finding biotic and abiotic things all around the river and most of the good stuff was by the edge of the water.

So pretty.

My goofy canoer.

The whole river was full of canoes. So fun!

I had so much fun with this big girl! And now i believe I have done all of the field trips, from pre-K-5th grade.

🥰

We went into a little lagoon and circled around in our canoes. Each of the front canoers held into their neighbors canoe and we fanned out. It would have been cooler if there wasn’t a tree right in the middle of us, but i wasn’t in charge.

I had the job to organize the kids putting away their flotation devices and oars. I’m in denial that these littles are going to middle school in a few months.

It was such a fun day and I’m so grateful to live a life where i can drop everything and go on a field trip in 15 minutes. It’s a good life.

Half a century!

Matt’s birthday was Tuesday of spring break. He’s been working thebmavy all of April, so we’d talked about getting a hotel and staying with him, but he’s been able to work at Pax, so that plan went out the window. I got up early and Matt him a big breakfast and saw him off to work.

I wanted to make a ganache and strawberry cake for Matt’s birthday, and i found a good one! I had fun decorating it and it was super tasty!

I love finding random pics like this. 😂

We met Matt up at a new to us mexican restaurant who’s name i can’t remember. But they made guacamole at our table and it was all delicious. The girls had fun with him opening their presents, and he liked the shirts and sunglasses they picked for him.

They sang happy birthday, complete with the fun hat.

He loved it!

Then it was time for cake! We didn’t want to cause any fires, so we only put a few candles on.

The little girls wanted in on that action.

All his wishes will come true. 🤗

Chris brought over a gift from Alexis, Cade, and baby Emmett. A Fitbit - they give such nice gifts.

I thought my cake was really pretty until i put it next to the picture in the online recipe. My chocolate swirls were kind of wonky, but whatever, it was still pretty.

He’s planning a big trip with grandpa this summer which will be his big present. I’m so glad he was born!

Spring break - Tuesday and Wednesday

On Tuesday we went to Ann Marie Gardens. We had posted on our ward fb page and had such a good turnout! Frankie was in heaven corralling and manhandling all the babies.

Frankie’s baby business, open for business.

And i quote - “All my kids went running all around town and I have to stay home and clean the house!”

Thankfully she likes quiet time as much as her momma. 😂

We could have played all day, all the kids love the Fairy Lolly. There are always very few fights and very few mom interruptions. It’s heavenly. But at last it was time to walk around to see the sculptures. The 9-year-old- crew.

And the 7’s.

They took an excursion to the bathroom together, and I went to round them up.

These two are thick as thieves.

♥️

And most of the kiddos. A few people had already left, and a few came later. We ♥️ spring break.

And most of the moms. We’ve got a lot of kids.

That night was Matt’s birthday, so that will be its own post. We stayed till almost 4. And could have kept playing, it’s so fun!

The next day was playtime at our not so wooden park. We invited Morgan to come with us and her mom met us there for playtime. Franks was in heaven. Sephie also came with us.

We stayed a long time there too. Playtime is so fun. We took Abby home with us so each girl got to have a friend. Except that we dropped Sephie off right away because of a certain bird incident. Delaney had been playing outside the fence and we saw her carrying something, very tenderly I might add. My stomach dropped when I realized it was probably a bird. I wished for someone else to go handle the fiasco, but alas, I was the only parent of Delaney there. I prayed the whole way over “please don’t let it be a bird!” But sadly it was a bird. There were a few moms near where I met her and even they were freaking out. I was so skeeved out that I told her to drop it, which she immediately did, and then I felt bad because we should be gentle even with dead things. We went right to the bathroom and washed hands for like 5 minutes. And then when we got home she stripped down and got into the bath immediately. I’m still calling her bird lady.

I had a meeting at church that night and I don’t remember what the girls  and Matt did. 🤷‍♀️
