choptank river lighthouse (replica)

we drove another 40 minutes down to easton to the choptank river replica. she just opened last year so she was all new and shiny and purty. :)
proud participators in the maryland lighthouse challenge!
love the white walls!

complete with a fog bell and everything.
the fog bell needed to be rung every few seconds in a specific pattern when it was foggy. can't imagine being up all night and into the next day ringing a fog bell and keeping the light going. a lot of hard work.

at the hooper straight lighthouse we met the guy that is in charge of the chesapeak lighthouse society's keepers loft, the store where they sell patches and other lighthouse goodies. then at the choptank lighthouse we met the woman that designs all the patches. they also told us where we could meet the chapter president and *the twins*. more on them later, but suffice it to say we were pretty excited to meet all these famous lighthousers.

 caution: nerd blogging alert. ;)
