jones point lighthouse

#16

this was the +1 on the challenge. not a necessary stop, but a welcome bonus one.
it started raining a few minutes after we left turkey point and never stopped. we had a hard time finding the jones point light, it's really tucked away basically underneath an overpass for the woodrow wilson bridge.
we were running very late, but we had to stop and talk to the chesapeak lighthouse chapter president, tony! we'd heard all about him so we were very excited to finally meet him. we ran out to the lighthouse, snapped some pics and ran back to our car.

the gaylord hotel across the water.

love the hominess of this lighthouse with the white picket fence. it's gonna be amazing when they finish remodeling.

we left jones point around 4:45 and still needed to hit fort washington before they closed at 5. tony assured us that he would call and tell them we were on our way and to wait around for us, but we still felt the need to hurry. then we got going the wrong way on the freeway and ahhh! our most stressful moment of the trip!
