Slow summer days

Lexi and the babes are visiting for July. When your baby is 10, it’s easy to forget how slooooow life with babies is. And how disruptive nap time, and how early bedtime is. It’s been so fun having them around, it’s just a summer adjustment.

My dad is working on buying out his lease, so he and Matt washed the space car today.

And our littlest were so helpful!

We all got sprayed and the littles were mostly happy helpers.

Lu and I went to see Where the Crawdads Sing during nap time. I thought it was excellent, so beautifully filmed, and stuck to the book. At least as much as I remember of the book. I got my free birthday popcorn and drink and it was a fun little date. Also, I want to live in the marsh and walk to the beach everyday.

We’re working on saying mimi, but I think he’ll say Pappy first. He already says a version of it.

Yesterday we all went to the dentist. 8 thumbs up for no cavities! We went to Sonic and Frankie tried a shark week slushie.

These boys can eat! They always want 2nds and 3rds and we spend a lot of time sitting at the table with them. Also, Emmi is almost 3 and doesn’t always love smiling for pictures, but Carter almost always is.

We play outside to work energy off.

Lexi and I traded mom duties. She took the girls to ju jitsu Monday and Wednesday and I put the babes to bed.

And when you have lots of little aunties sometimes you use frilly pink towels.

All babies love big shoes.

We go for walks every day. We stopped to play at the kindergarten park at the school.

He’s such a sweetheart.

“Gentle Carter! Be soft!”

They weren’t sure about the swings at first. Lexi said they’ve never liked them.

But they went back to them and on our second try they loved them.

Lu and I are going to sit down and plan next week because we’ve got a 3rd birthday to celebrate!
