bethel bridge lighthouse

 the bethel bridge lighthouse was way out of our way, the furthermost eastern lighthouse in maryland and it wasn't part of the challenge.
 
 but we were so close and planning to go to another non challenge lighthouse that was between it and concord point, so how could we pass it up?
 
 this tiny thing was on the c & d canal and has a super interesting history if you are ever so inclined.
 
there was absolutely no one there. it belongs to the army corps of engineers, but they also have a museum next door, so we didn't feel like we were trespassing too much.

such a beautiful setting.

we seriously had such a good time. we had a few tense moments regarding directions (but what trip doesn't have those?) but we really just get along so well.

as we left chesapeak city we decided to grab a delicious sonic lunch and ended up having the worst fast food experience of my life! first we waited for 30 minutes, no joke, in line for 30 minutes. the problem is you never know how long it will take and then after it's been awhile you feel like you've already invested so much time that you can't just drive away! and then we got the wrong order! so i went in, pretty upset since we were on such a tight lighthousing schedule and all, and the manager was just like, sorry, our system was down. so then i had to wait another 10+ minutes for our correct order. then  laura's order was still wrong - the lady had actually taken it wrong. so then we got to wait a few more minutes. and never once was offered a free milkshake or anything. humph!

 

and then, insult to several injuries, turns out they don't really care about our opinions since i've called twice and have yet to receive a call back. i still love sonic, but if you are ever in elkton, md, i'd steer clear. :)
