fort carroll lighthouse

#5

*courtesy of lighthouse friends. that's the baltimore beltway bridge in the background.

after lunch we drove back over the bridge and headed north to fort armistead park which was located in a very questionable, slightly scary neighborhood. like, i was a little bit nervous to walk down to the water. lots of men hanging out alone in their cars, one without a shirt on. icky.

we did venture down and with laura's binoculars we were able to barely make out this poor dilapidated light. this lighthouse has a long and sad history of wars, inadequate funding, and solitude. i don't really know how to (or care to) summarize it any better.

this is the view from when we crossed the bridge. i totally had the window down and leaned out. all in the name of a good shot. :)

it would be so fun to boat out to the fort and do some exploring! and i hope someone or group will save this sad little light.
