lazaretto point (replica)

#10

we made it out to our last lighthouse for friday just as the sun was setting. it was really pretty, in spite of the cement factory and trucking station surrounding this cute little guy.

it is so strange to me, this lighthouse is a replica built in the 1980's of a lighthouse that was built in the 1830's. and yet it is almost totally inaccessible to the public. unless you believe in trespassing like laura and i.

actually though, i called mr. ruckert himself, one of the owners of the ruckert terminal co. that is located right next to this light and he said if we had any trouble seeing it to contact him directly. so we actually did have permission on this one. :)

they even keep the lighthouse up. the picture on lighthouse friends looks a lot worse than the cute little spruced up light laura and i saw.

*lighthouse friends

so why would you build a lighthouse replica and then make it so no one could enjoy it? strange.

it was a very busy and successful day of lighthousing! 10 down, many to go! we were ready to check out our hotel!
