Birthdays

Adi and Alexis’ celebrated their birthdays on June 3rd. Poor Lex and boys were sick again, and Cade was out in the field again. He had celebrated her before he left, but the day of was kind of lame.

We started off adi’s special day with a special breakfast at Cracker Barrel.

Adi got her trademark pancakes, no syrup, wrap it up and eat it with your hands.

Unfortunately I was feeling under the weather and also unfortunately I am never at my best when I’m sick. But after a little bit of a windy road, we made it to Asahi and all was well.

The hibachi loving crew!

And then papa insisted on a regular shot.

Adi asked to see my phone while we ate and then let us know that we were only 7 minutes away from the Lexington Park library. Since it was her birthday we happily checked it out. She said “this is the best decision I’ve made in a long time.” Love her!

Everyone loved a fun new library.

Alli made her a cookie dough cake and she opened a few gifts. Our girl had a good, quiet day.

We sent lexi a sun umbrella for their backyard. She said her pasty white family thanks us.

June 4th was national donut day. The little girls were a little ticked that papa interrupted our donut for birthdays tradition, so after I visited Carolee, (with Nola) I popped over to Dunkin.

Zoom pictures of delaney from primary activities.

And a bonus Car-baby - which is what Emmi calls him and I love it.

End of year

I feel like i am clumsily acclimating  to being social again. Yesterday was a weird and forgetful one, but I kept my cool and it was full of good things. First up - Frankie and I met up with Roslyn and Megan in brandywine, which is a halfway point for us so the girls could have a day of fun.

Frankie got to see her house and then they picnicked in a cool park.

They quizzed each other on favorite things they both remembered about each other to see how well they remembered and also what might have changed in the years they’ve been apart.

While the girls frolicked, we had extra kids over because Joni had an appt. They were great and easy. Then Sarah texted to see if Laney could play and I was like, send them all over, and that was still all good. But then I had to tutor at 3:45. I thought either Matt or Joni would be home, but neither of those ended up happening. So then I had the most stressful and crazy tutoring sesh ever. 🤦‍♀️ As soon as that ended it was time to pick up Frankie. Thankfully Matt made it home a few minutes later and I shoved the 10 kids on him and rushed out the door to make it back to brandywine in time. Frankie had a blast, but that drive twice in a day was a pain.

Frankie and I popped over to buy Adi a few birthday gifties, and as we headed home I remembered I was going walking with Nola at 8. And I had a tutoring meeting at 7:30 that I zoomed into as I drove home. I ran inside and changed shoes and we hustled over to the school for a delightful walk and chat while the kids played and the fireflies flew. Delaney wore this funny outfit and I loved seeing her running around in it. Don’t mind tenkor a stuff everywhere. Alli found an apartment and they will be leaving us in a few weeks. It’s good and bad, but mostly good and everyone will be happy for all to be settled.

Today I’ve sent roughly a million texts and emails but managed no phone calls. Yet. Delaney and Frankie are done with Time for Learning and Adi has just a few science lessons left. Then we’ll focus on art and social studies until schools out. Delaney enjoyed some comics and Fritos on the deck.

We wrapped up some 13-year-old gifts. And so I can remember, I grabbed a pic. Because Frankie and Laney are already planning for their 13ths and I like to keep things even.

These boys. 😍

They are getting so big and we can’t wait to see them this summer!
