Old friends, art lessons, and ferry rides

On Tuesday morning we woke up early, left the girls with Cami, and went to meet up with some of Matt's old friends at the Original Pancake House.
Steve was a dj at an underage club matt used to go to in Seattle when he was, in fact, underage. Through the magic of fb, they reconnected, and come to find out, he'd joined the church about 3 years ago (Kim was born in the church, but inactive at the time)

I have to admit, I wasn't excited about meeting up with them. They are quite a bit older than me, and also alternative kinda punks, and I'm not. But they were so great and the breakfast was wonderful. Kim is an Alaskan Airlines flight attendant and does a lot with the military honor flights, which is super cool and interesting. We're going to try to tag along with them when they come to DC, in October. I think it will be an amazing experience!

Also, I love fresh Mormons! They were in charge of their Christmas party two years ago, and did an 80's Christmas. I. Love. It. So nice to have people from all different walks of life.
After the breakfast fun, we met up with uncle Ken (uncle grumpy or uncle Rico work too) for an art lesson.
The girls were in heaven, and he said it fueled his artists soul, so I'd say that's a win/win.
Isabel even got in on the action.
Of course Addie was the last man standing. Long after d and f were through, she was going strong.
Then she channels her inner Jackson pollock and used her hands. That's one happy eight-year-old!
Two artists. Definitely runs in the family.
The girls also loved Titan, the giant bunny. A little too much.
After art lessons,  it was time to head to downtown Seattle to catch an authentic Washington state ferry. #Excited!
Isabel tagged along with us. We got there about 20 minutes early, so we watched the (very fast) cars driving off the ferry boat.
Here we go!
It was freezing and overcast, pretty much everyday. The ferry ride was exceptionally chilly.
The girls all the ought it was very cool, and they loved the Space Needle, to the left of the sailboat.
Brave girls came out to look at the Alki lighthouse with me. I wish I could have seen more lighthouses while we were there, but family time is definitely more important.
Seattle skyline behind us.
And more of Alki light.
It's the tiny white building on the end of the spit of land.
Happy lighthouse lover!
We grabbed everyone a quick treat as we ferried on down to gig harbor.
Delaney took a nap because she didn't want to go outside. Don't worry, we didn't leave her.
So gorgeous. I am just soaking all of this in. So grateful for all the amazing experiences.
We found a way to "be outside" but not be suffocated by the wind.
Meanwhile in the eastern time zone...
Chris made it to the airport! SLC bound for him!
