Little Sod House on the Prairie

We stayed Tuesday night in New Ulm, Minnesota. It's a little German inspired town with lots of little bakeries and breweries. I went by this cute German bakery and sign on my run that morning and couldn't resist. I'm a sucker for signs like this.
We had a Laura Ingalls Wilder themed day planned, so off to Walnut Grove we headed!

We saw handmade signs to the Little Sod House on the Prairie and thought, why not?!
The sign should have included the descriptive word "replica," because that's all it was.
On their farm a family had built replicas of several of the Ingalls family homes. They were furnished and nice, but not what we were expecting.
We made the best of it and dressed up and played.
Laura, baby Carrie, and I did some cooking and cleaning.
Mary played dress up too.
It was well maintained and just so pretty on the prairie. I could see how Pa fell in love with it.
One of the homes had a second story where the children slept, and the girls all checked it out.
Even little scaredy cats.
Soooo pretty.
There were several farm cats running around and the girls loved on them.
There were 4 homes and some farm equipment to explore.
Jumping to daddy.
Sod cutter for building sod homes. So crazy cool how they used anything and everything they could. They were some hard working people, those prairie folk.
Our last stop was the outhouse. And Laney will look, if it's the last thing Addie makes her do.
