snowy days and snowy nights

scene from a snow day. complete with boots, gloves, snowpants, and hats strewn about. monday was president's day - no school, tuesday and wednesday - snow days, thursday and friday - 2-hour-delays. we have 1 snow day left in our school calendar, hopefully we don't go over!
we've had some cold and snowy days in the almost 6 years we've been marylanders, but this last week has been the cooooooldest. the last few days have broken all sorts of records. if i would have expanded the weather below, it would have said that it was 3°, but it felt like -15°. it's bitter!

on wednesday morning christian said "want me to take the girls sledding at dorsey?" sometimes he's so sweet! i had conflicting emotions. part of me really wanted to go and have fun and part of me wanted to stay home and clean my bathroom that has seen many moons since it's been cleaned. i cleaned the bathroom. (ps - i'm quite certain that when i'm old and grey, the cleanliness of my home right now won't matter, but right now it is unorganized and loud. we are supposed to be calm and clean people, able to be still, and i am always trying. it is such an internal battle and i am so aware of it all the time.)

anyways, they came home a little early because addie had a run-in with another boys foot. chris also took mags, dj, and jb, and laura said mags and daniel almost threw down to defend addie. it was just an accident and no throwing down actually took place, but it's cute that they are so protective. the kick loosened an already loose tooth and some drama ensued. she finally decided (after a nap) to have bubba try to pull it. she wanted me to do that, but pulling teeth is not in my job description, and never has been. nope, not starting now. mr. dentistry pulled it right out as addie envisioned herself sipping lemonade on a sunny beach - i used some visualization with her and she was so calm!
still in shock, but happy to be expecting a visit from the tooth fairy!
that day we also made some yumtastic snow ice cream. we threw the covered bowl back outside on the deck to be kept nice and frosty with the rest of the snow.
frankie is the biggest snow bunny, but this little lady has enjoyed it too.
they have several mini sledding hills set-up in the front yard and when they play in the back, they dig, pull snow around on the sled, and run around.
this is the old farm house behind our house. this was taken by a neighbor up the street, so i've never seen this view. i thought it was cool.
addie's valentine box got torn, and as i am trying to rid our lives of unnecessary clutter, we threw it out. before that though i let her de-princess it. she took off each little diamond and i have found them all around the house. ooooooh.
snow bird sledding on her bum down one of the mini-hills in the front yard.
she plays outside by herself, she's excited to go snowboarding, she hangs tough even in negative temps. i love it!
this was after we'd taken addie to the bus, so we'd been out for about 15 minutes and d-money was done. we were all bundled, but it is incredibly cold and it was still uncomfortable.
"no pictures, please!"
the frog in action!
she got going so fast that she sledded right into the street. we are very safety conscious. ;)
home. still trying to figure out a name for our humble abode. the white house is already taken.
we picked up our girl scout cookies wednesday night! we've already killed one box of this mints. not like that's a feat, i could do that with both hands ties behind my back.
the boy wore his class ring! finally! #snipedya
addie is, and i quote - "allergic without my glasses." she frequently wears these fake specs to school and around the house. as long as they aren't distracting her, or others, i'm good with it. girlfriend cray-cray.
she's a pretty big snowbird too. even though she vowed not to snowboard, even on the magic carpet. pretty sure daddy can talk her into it. ;)
love.
the flowers lex sent me are blooming one at a time. the house smells fabulous and it's a nice springy reprieve from the bitter cold.
tonight i took chris and brenna to red robin to celebrate christian's upcoming birthday with his free birthday burger. the sun setting against the white snow as we left brenna's house was so lovely.
our dinner was so nice and then brenna and i decided we had to have them sing to chris.
he loved it.
that face!
hahahaha. :)
after dinner we went in search of birthday presents at dicks, returned some things at ross, and rounded out the evening at michaels. it was a nice night. :)
these two are sweet kids. i'm glad they are willing to hang out with one of the 'rents on a friday night. we had some nice talks and it was a good time.
tomorrow we're gearing up for another storm. several afternoon activities have already been cancelled. but guess what? i'm all caught up on my g-work! holla!
