new years eve

for nye we had two parties to go to. first was julia smith's wedding reception. receptions don't come around very often, so it's always an exciting time!
the girls especially liked dancing with daddy.
and lucky for them, daddy eats that stuff right up.
 getting some air.
while he danced with one, the others patiently waited their turns.
delaney decided she wanted to take some pictures of frankie dancing with daddy, so then i had about 20 of these:
 waiting is hard.
it was a nice reception and it was fun to see everyone. i miss having kitty in our ward so much, so it's always nice to see them. they had these bells on a table, so i told the girls how when you ring the bell the bride and groom are supposed to kiss. so the girls walk up to the little circle where the bride and groom were standing and start ringing their bells. after several attempts they came to me and told me it didn't work. i knew they just hadn't heard, so i took them closer. they kept ringing, and ringing, and finally got their attention, wherein the newlyweds stared at us quizzically. i said something to the effect of "see, they are ringing the bells? for you to kiss…" they finally remembered and finally the girls were happy. and i looked like a looney tunes. as per the norm.
after that party, we hustled over to the nolan's for their nye party. frankie is baby hungry and just loves carrying adeline around like a sack of potatoes. adeline is so sweet and patient with her and rarely gets mad about it. frankie's in love!
we played games and ate and visited. at midnight we went outside and set off papers and threw snappers. it was a good time.
delaney gets overwhelmed by loud noises. and cold. and crowds. so we stayed inside. :)
after that we went home and put some babes to bed. for staying up till after midnight, everyone did remarkably well. the next day we went to dinner at the mccombs with the danvers. frannie made black eyed peas and laura made roast. i made cabbage, corn bread, and collard greens. most of our food was for prosperity and good luck. gotta start the new year off right!
after dinner we played some games. fun new years events!
