east point, nj - lighthouse #28

we had another long drive out to east point light. sunday was really a lot more relaxed than the rest of the weekends. we had some time to breath and not as much to see. it was nice.
this was another one laura and i had seen when we came to atlantic city.
it's waaaay out in the middle of nowhere.
hello, pretty lighthouse.
it's very pretty, all rural and marshy. it reminds me of what i think prince edward island (of anne of green gables fame) would look like.
i don't know, was i not ready for a picture or really, really mad? not ready for a picture.
guess who beat us there???
love this picture. love these two.
last time we were on this beach the green head flies were biting and they were brutal!
delaney was just a baby and when we left, we thought we'd let one into our car. that was a panicked few miles, let me tell you. i was yelling at joseph and alexis not to let that fly bite my baby! and we were all cracking up! thankfully no one was bitten again in the car.
some lucky scout did his eagle project out here. he made a boardwalk and placed this bench and sign.
so pretty.
this is a lighthouse that people are trying to renovate, and they've already done a lot of work on it.
this is a tough one because it's so far out in the middle of nowhere.
not super convenient for volunteering.
cute!
the poor inside of this guy. it's pretty bad. just needs a little (a lot) of tlc. and some money.
hi, i'm michelle. and i'm addicted to lighthouse stairs.
they had people in groups waiting to go to the top.
they moved us from room to room so we could enjoy time all throughout the lighthouse.
finally at the top!
it gets warm up in these glass lantern rooms.
you can see the pictures of nearby lighthouses above shelly's head.
that's cape may on the left and miah maul on the right.
very unconventional lighthouse light there.
windy, windy!
have i mentioned how much i love spiral lighthouse staircases?
cause i do!!!
awwww!
we waited in this room with our volunteer, mr. smith. another lightouser came and said, "oh your last name is smith? that was my maiden last name! you don't find many people with that surname anymore!" huh? we all had a good chuckle about that one. :)
love this unique little lighthouse!!!
sniped ya!
l - needs lots of love, love the beach, the sea grass, marshy area.
m - love where it is on the bay, so peaceful, the work that needs to be done is daunting.
s - missing some walls, walk through reeds to the beach.
it was chilly!
cold, or not, my feet gotta breath! and i love to feel the sand between my toes!
i could spend some time on the beach right now!
looooove.
so many pretty pictures and no power lines to interfere.
hahaha, we had to squeeze onto that bench!
another fun stop on our fun adventure. nearing the end!
