craighill channel lower rear lighthouse

we saw this from faaaaaar away last year. didn't even come close to capturing the awesomeness!
something so cool and antique'ish about him.
(cause he's a grandpa light)
it was so cool that we could see the light shining. i just wish someone would do some upkeep. clean him off and paint him up.
somewhere along the way to this light, the captain had come and talked to all the passengers together. since we had lost several hours due to our near fatal drowning,
(i like to get more dramatic with each retelling)
and because of that we would be out well after dark if we continued with the original plan to see all 10 lights. we immediately piped up that one of the main reasons we had taken the cruise was to be able to see one of the northernmost lights, one of the ones that would have to be cut out if we wanted to get back closer to our original time.
there were 10 passengers onboard that wanted to continue. most of them were casual, like yeah, we're already out here, why not continue? but there was one couple though that were determined to go back. she was all over the place. "i am a nurse. it's not safe to go on at all after the boat took on water. common sense says not to be out after dark. we have 4 sick cats to get home to. we have a long drive. we have early church tomorrow. don't try to convince me, i've been the cause of 3 hung juries." on and on it went. laura talked to her for a long time.
it was super frustrating, but the captains hands were tied. the couple was already upset that we had continued on after the incident. the captain shut her down on that one. he said he knew the boat was safe and even complied with the coast guard to ensure the boat was safe. that's fine that she was a nurse but he is a boat captain, so let him do his job. he was stuck between a rock and a hard place.

that's life! it was an unfortunate circumstance, and we weren't gonna get to see all the lights we wanted to. laura was awesome! after arguing with her for a few minutes, she gave up. but then she was so sweet to them! she offered chocolate and to take their pictures. they mostly continued to be rude, but the effort was made and i was so proud of her. she set a good example for me.
and the captain said he'll give us a free cruise next year to see the lights we missed, so all's well that ends well. :)
