beach day #2

after our souvenir shopping we headed to the beach.
check out the wild ponies! such an interesting history that i can't even begin to go into, but you can read about it here.

we wanted to try a different beach, but i guess there aren't any. there is an inlet side with no waves, but we didn't know about it. it was on the other side of the beach. next time. :)
david was a good sport and the kids had fun shaping his... shapely merman figure.

 the artists and their work.
 franks was next!
loving that she kept her goggles on! those girls and their nerd loving.

 and all clean. :)

 i.love.d's.faces.
and her chippie eating.
i only got in the water once that day. i had woken up the night before with a rockin' earache and i'm pretty sure it's because i was still sick and i got my head wet in the cold water. super bummer not to swim, but i had fun making drip castles with laura and playing with the kids.
making drip castles is therapeutic.

there was a man creating this huge dragon that was so fun to watch. but then he left and the dragon undone.
there was a beautiful sunset that night and i was able to catch the whole thing as it went down. niiiice.

after we got back to the campground that day we got eaten alive! all the girls except delaney and i left for the showers and we weren't outside but maybe 5 minutes and delaney got no less than 20 mosquito bites. no kidding! and they hurt! there is a serious mosquito problem there, and they come around with a truck and spray each night. i don't know how people lived there in the old days, except they must have had natural ways of keeping them at bay. all in the life of a lighthouse keeper.

and then before we got going on the last day we asked our neighbors to snap a pic of the whole crew. camping was a success and we can't wait to go again! addie's even been praying that we'll go camping again. hopefully it won't take us another 7 years!
