while i was researching a place to stay on ocracoke i found 2 good options - the castle bed and breakfast and the pony island motel. both were clean and offered delicious breakfast, but the castle was fancy and the pony island not so much. i hate to decide for groups, so i let the girls vote and it was unanimous for the castle. everything i had read had talked about the delicious breakfast so we were really excited.
and holy moly, it did not disappoint!
this was one of the best breakfast's I've ever had, and I've had a lot of breakfasts.
yummmm! the orange pancakes were perfect, fluffy and sweet, the bacon and sausage were crisp and good quality, the egg casserole delicious, the sweet grit casserole interesting (it's a north Carolina thing), it was all soooo good!
we gorged ourselves a little bit and then were ready to get on the road again.
after pictures, remember?!
and we can't always be ready!
we had a great stay at the castle and would highly recommend it if you ever find yourself on ocracoke island. the breakfast alone would be worth the stay, but the whole thing was great all around.
cute, cute, cute island!
we found our lighthouse stamps and some souvie's and headed out to catch our last ferry, the 11:00 to hatteras.
we had a busy day of lighthouseing ahead of us!
