i'm sure i don't know how it happened, but addie had packet upon packet of homework that somehow never got turned in, or completed, for that matter. so this week we've really hit the books. i asked her what colors these were that she was writing. she took the exact crayons and knew exactly what each word was. girlfriend can read.
the girls had been begging for us to dig their bikes out of the shed. we had some letters to mail, so we got all ready, got the bikes out, put the sunscreen on, only to be missing a helmet. so then we had to look and look for the helmet, my favorite thing to do when we've already spent a good deal of time getting ready and everyone is antsy. we finally found the second helmet... on the porch.
little miss frankie rode for about 15 seconds and then was done. she has a love-hate relationship with her bike.
laney was all like, "if she doesn't want her bike, i'll ride it!"
she dropped her hat and put it back on herself. she did a good job, right?
franks traded her bike for her scooter. the scooter has been an inside toy since her birthday, but has now officially become an outside toy.
finally after an hour of prepping, looking, and switching, we were off to the mailbox!
(a trip to the mailbox flying solo takes about 5 minutes)
going to and from the mailbox took another good 30 minutes. we did have to stop and ogle a dog along the way, but still. we came home and had just enough time for the first otter pops of 2013 before we had to leave to take addie to school.
mmmm!
when christian got home he had scraped his leg on something. so he did what any ghetto fab teen from st. marys county does. he fashioned a band aid out of a paper towel and mailing tape.
"what?! i didn't want to go upstairs."
alexis begged me to let her take frankie with her to run some errands. there was a key chain at pink beach that was calling her name! and when key chains call, lexi answers. it feels odd to let lexi drive the little girls around, but i let her drive herself and chris around, so i don't know quite why i wouldn't want her to drive the littles. so i let her. they were both soooo excited! she got frankie a mcflurry and they both had a good time. :)
chris was doing homework, so i took delaney and we picked addie up at school and then headed to target for some invitations and b & b works for some handsoap. delaney was thrilled to be there, so many things beautiful rows and rows of lotions and soaps to touch and move. she's a little ocd, that one.
then last night we grilled burgers, matt put girls down and then as the sun went down, i went for a run. it's a gorgeous time of day to run. i had a great run - the golden light from the sun, cool breeze, and the icing on the cake was the lightning and thunder going on. i turned on to pensive street as the rain really started coming down. and i saw my first fireflies of the summer! just a few, but they were beautiful!
today we had ashby over while darlaina went on a field trip. so just for good measure we decided to have abby and ellie over too. and sarah, i guess. ;) it's a hot day, so we broke out the kiddie pool (i could only find one and it's tiny!) and the sprinkler.

these two are a trip. ellie likes to get a little handsy, and delaney just kinda whines about it.
for the most part they get along really well. and they're so super cute!
for those wondering about all the blogging, it's not that i don't have a lot to do, it's actually the opposite. i have a lot to do, but i don't really want to do a lot of it, and i feel when i blog i am productive. so it's a good out because i enjoy it too.
sort of a win-win, at least in my own head. :)
