Summer 2018 Day #45

First day as a 40 year old was ah-mazing. Second day, not as much fun.

Because nothing says happy birthday! and welcome home! as much as a total basement flood.

Beautiful and relaxing breakfast. We are so glad we enjoyed it because it’s the last bit of relaxing we’ll have for some time. 😂
But there’s a silver lining to every grey cloud, or hurricane strength basement flood in our case, and we are feeling so very loved and supported. Neighbors loaned fans and shopvacs, friends offered babysitting and dinners, Laura and Maggie brought muffins and birthday cake, and we’ve had extra workers here all day.
My mom, Marie, Sarah, Tony, Laura, Chad, the list of helpers is long and growing longer by the minute. We’re so grateful.
I have never seen such a wet carpet. If you stepped on it too quickly, the water would splash up your leg. 🤢
We made our garage our triage area and moved everything upstairs. We’ve made hundreds of trips up and down the stairs today. Calories burned, my friends, calories burned.

We had to have vacuumed up at least 60 gallons of water and it’s still wet. Carpet is done-zo. Baseboards are ruined. It’s such a mess.

We got the heavy furniture up on makeshift risers to protect it. And I vowed then that I will never have so much junk on the floor again, and I never have.

Here’s to hoping 40 plus 3 days is less eventful.
