Day #28 and the one with a happy Easter

Last nights flashlight egg hunt was a hit. I think a new tradition has been born. They’re big girls after all, and even though we still talk about the Easter bunny, we’re all on the same page that he’s just a fun tradition.

They ran around like sweet little girls, it was perfect.

The Easter bunny had just hopped by, so it was also perfect timing.

Addie found her 12 eggs first.

Then Delaney, and then Frankie.

It was so much fun.

We came in and they went through their eggs. We let them have a few pieces of candy, and then back up to bed.

This little pill is so fun and often so annoying. She’s been busy, busy, busy making messes and planning surprises for her sisters. She has been sewing and crafting for her Easter bunny project, which she called EB for short and so the girls wouldn’t know what she was talking about. But then she decided she needed to be clear that it was the fake Easter bunny project, or the FEB.

So while Matt and I were watching Julie & Julia we heard a little commotion and look what matt found. A sweet little Easter bunny in a made up costume complete with a paper plate mask and basket full of eggs to hide for her sissies. She was a shy little bunny though and didn’t want a picture, so this is what i had to snag. She’s so sweet and also such a hot mess.

This morning. Hallelujah.

We made up some treats for papa and let him borrow alexis’ basket, so Delaney made a tag for him.

Also this little guy celebrated his first Easter.

We walked over to drop off papas basket and this cutie walked her bike up the hall and chatted our ears off. Again, so sweet, such a mess!

I think he loved his basket. Quarantine chocolate is important.

We visited on dads patio for awhile and the little girls ran and played in the yard.

More Emmy love! Lu sent a video of him finding an egg. 😍

I can’t even. He’s the sweetest!

We had our Zoom church and then we all got to work. Addie has wanted to make bread from scratch, so i figured homemade rolls for Easter would be perfect. We started on the rolls, and Matt, Frankie, and D made the deviled eggs. While our rolls rose, Ads and I made some funeral potatoes. Bubba brought a stuffed ham from crabknockers. 🤗 Then I made southern style green beans, then directed the girls in cutting up a fruit salad. Finally, I made a batch of creamed corn. Dad came over at 3 and took some action shots from the deck.

And a socially distanced Easter dinner we ate.

Thankfully it was lovely outside.

Silliness all around.

Dinner was delicious and we all enjoyed visiting. We evenconvinced Addie to fill up the bird feeder.

Papa got some cute shots of Matt and D cuddling.

Storm clouds started rolling through, so I asked D to get me a sweater. #hotmess

I’ve made lots of breads, but i don’t love making bread without a bread maker. What is warm water? Soft dough? Too much kneading? Not enough? Blah. But out rolls turned out pretty delicious and Addie was stoked. So I’m glad we went for it, and I’ll be happy to continue teaching her.

Tonight after our at home sacrament meeting we went through the Easter eggs Nola made for the primary a few years ago. They each have a symbol inside with a paper explaining it and a scripture attached. There was a sweet spirit and even Delaney, who is often our spiritual holdout, got teary. We are so grateful for our savior and for the sure and simple knowledge that He lives. He lives!
