getting in the groove

on sunday evening we went to visit streeters and their sweet baby girl.
my little ladies are baby lovers! none of us could get enough of this little beauty!
she is so sweet and tiny, almost makes me baby hungry. ;)
we already miss having their fun family just down the street. when the old family moved back in, i felt like, hey, that's not your house. we're ready for our friends to come back into our neighborhood. :)
yesterday we had errands to run. first we went to the school to pick up addie's last day of school things and drop off some pta boxes. then we hit the bank to sign a signature page for the pta. addie made a comment about having so much fun at the bank and it occurred to me that with the advent of online banking, my girls had never stepped foot into an actual bank. it's a different world! while we were there, delaney hit addie pretty good and left a red mark. addie requested to see it, so here you have it, even though she squinted so you couldn't really see anything. :) this youngest thinks she rules the roost. she's been tormenting frankie lately, which, to be fair, isn't hard to do.
after the bank, we hit the post office for stamps, and then back to the school for mr dan's music time. delaney tore it up. for a few minutes at least.
each of the girls danced for a few minutes and then were done.
it was a cute program though, and we had fun.
after that we hit the library for new books and reading prizes. then home for naps and mama's to do list. #4 and #5 must have been pooped, cause they slept for 3 hours, till after 5:30. then we hit the pool till closing time. daddy is still working on the backyard, so i tried to keep the littles out of his hair. and little miss brave lady goes under water! she holds my finger, holds her nose, and goes for it. it's pretty cute. :)
the girls helped daddy in the garden, we had fhe and indoor s'mores - to which addie informed me that when she is a mom they will always have campfire s'mores, the girls went with me for a run, and then we called it a night.

duh, duh, duh.
until addie started telling abby ghost stories. they both came downstairs so frankie could tell me that "one time abby's door opened, and no one was there!" i sent them upstairs with the assurance that they were safe and there are no ghosts. a few minutes later i heard more crying. i went upstairs to find frankie inconsolable because "abby's door opened, and no one was there!" we took some deep breaths, (i do this with frankie on the regular) drank some water, assured safety, and comforted. still frantic. i offered to leave her door open but she didn't want that, she wanted it locked so no one could come in. that's when i told her that no one was at abby's door probably because the wind opened it. immediately her face calmed and she said "oh." she wasn't completely done being scared, but she at least calmed down enough to lay down and go to sleep with no more crying episodes. and that's when i heard delaney. whose work is never done?

i haven't heard from the seabase crew yet, other than a quick saturday night text from christian that they had made it to florida. matt assures me that they are on island time and having the island time of their lives. matt would have loved to go back, but unfortunately they already had enough leaders. maybe next time. :)

alexis was home early because one of her little charges got sick. i am so proud of her that she is working so hard. she paid off her accident debt with her first 3 nanny paychecks, and will pay for her half of her first semester of college with her next few. she still spends a lot of time with friends, but since she is being so responsible otherwise, we are good with that.

i am fully embracing this summer gig. it's nice to not have to worry (too much) about nap or bed time. we are often ruled by those things, and with our busy schedules, that's often necessary, but it's nice to be free of that. today was the first day i've seen the 6am hour in a few weeks, and it's been pretty nice too. :) we've got a "summer standard" for housekeeping and eating, and while that is sometimes a daily battle for me, that is pretty nice too. spending so much time with the kids has been very nice, and i was just thinking yesterday how i will miss the children when they back to school. good thing we have six more weeks!
