cape charles lighthouse

we passed by the southern tip of the eastern shore of virginia to see the cape charles light tower.
there she is!
i felt great on the cruise too. i was worried because we've done cruises where i didn't feel so hot, and this was a long cruising day, from 9-2. i used one of matts motion sickness patches, so not sure if it was that, or the fact that it was the nicest cruising day ever, but it was great!
this one used to be regular lighthouse, but the first one was destroyed during the civil war, and the second by erosion.
from cape charles, we could look way out into the distance and see the chesapeake tower. so exciting!

I grew up there every summer from the 70s and 80s. That area is called Pickett's harbor. The original look out towers are from war time. Used to pull my boat right up there, hang out and have it all to ourselves. Beautiful
