open house

today i took my best kindergartner to her open house at her new school.
christian worked - again, and lexi watched the girls for an hour before heading off to the high school for her safe driving course so she can park in the 'a' lot. did you know they charge the kids $50 to park at the school??? say what?!
we all met in the gymnasium and had some time to kill...

she was so excited and done-zo with waiting. she is so ready for school!
finally it was time to go down to her classroom. we found her seat at her table and miss huber had left a cute little goody bag for each student. so exciting!
she got a pencil, eraser, bookmark, and playdough. it was a very sweet little extra touch.
we put all our supplies away and looked all around.
i wanted to take a picture of her with her name, but she wasn't quite picking up what i was putting down.
mrs wagoner, the para-educator got a picture of each child. i could tell she was nervous. :)
because this is how she poses for me...
rocking laney to sleep is one of my favorite things to do each day. sleeping babies are seriously the most precious things ever. today as i was sorting cloths on my bed, she crawled up to me and kissed my arm. then she was all proud of herself and cute. also, she's adding -son to everything. juicey-son, grandpa-son, water-son. it's odd and i wonder what she's saying!
i bought a massaging seat from a neighbor and sat down to relax. doesn't this look relaxing?!!!
everyone wanted in on that action!
another gorgeously cool day in somd! here's how delaney gardens: shovel some dirt...
drop on sidewalk. it's so very helpful.
i finally made my freezer meals this morning, so we had dinner all ready for matt when he arrived home from dc. after dinner we took a walk to meet some other kindergarten kids from the neighborhood at the park.
after playtime we walked down to the newer section of our neighborhood to check out this new park. it's hidden back behind some houses with no pathway to it. so addie and i tromped through the mud to check it out. there's still caution tape and they just barely put bark down, so i'm thinking they'll be making a path sometime soon.
the high school open house was tonight as well. lexi asked me not to go with her. :( i am really trying hard to let her grow up, so i respected her wishes. since christian was working this is the first time in 3 years that i haven't gone to the lhs open house. kinda made me sad and i hope i did the right thing. we do the best with what we know, right?

tomorrow is grandpa's surgery, so matt gave him a blessing. then he also did father's blessings for each of the kids as they prepare to begin a new school year. after he finished with alexis, christian, and then addie, frankie jumped right up and said "now me!!!" so she got one too. she's having a little bit of a hard time with addie going to school without her. we've got another preschool co-op all planned though, so i'm sure she'll be okay.
