we opened a few geodes when we were in illinois, but we brought the majority back to try to open carefully. matt wants to get a pipe cutter and be very precise, but the curiosity was killing chris one day, so he set out to crack one open.

there were also several small, crystal-like fragments that broke off. they're beautiful, only now i'm not quite sure what to do with them... and we've got a whole boxful of unopened ones.
