After Panera and before the ballet we popped into Sally’s Beauty Supply for a good sale, and Delaney and Frankie bought fake nails - they love those. π On Saturday D put on her nails then set up The White Lotus Spa on the deck. Bubba and jeanne came over, so they got the first spa treatments, then Matt and I, then adi and Frankie. The back of her ad had food and said *tips appreciated ππ She really can be so sweet!
I had run out of mousse and had ordered some but it hadn’t arrived, so I did straight hair and used Frankie’s little hair contraption and I loved it. It came out while I was sleeping, but wearing it during the day worked too.
I had a few stake conference assignments. I was asked to find two sisters to give testimonies on Sunday, invite our best functioning Temple and Family History committee to Saturdays training, invite a coordinator and assist with providing dinner after Saturdays training and before the adult session, and give a 5 minute training on How Ward Councils Facilitate Ministering to Those with Temporal Needs.
Testimony’s were easy and Lana made the dinner assignment simple - seriously someone happily accepting an invitation is a beautiful thing! The best temple/FH committee ended up being Pax ward, and that was a little more challenging. Among other things, none of the YW class presidency could make it, and it’s so important to include the youth. I checked in with the one that said she could come and she had misunderstood the day. So after talking with Sam and then Missy, I asked adi to fill in. She’s so good and kind that she agreed pretty quickly. She’s never been to a temple/fh meeting, so we read about it in the handbook and talked about some things she thought could make that committee better. Elder Yamashita from the 70 presided at our meeting, and Adi rocked standing in front of the audience and being the first to answer the questions he asked.
We rode up in the Tripp van and I got to visit with McKenzie, which was nice because I don’t know her well and she’s got a new RS calling. We ended up arriving to the church about 20 minutes late, but I walked right on up to the stand and it was fine. π€·♀️ Elder Yamashita was so fun and knowledgeable and it was a great training. The temporal needs aspect of RS was the most challenging for me, it can be lonely when the only person you can counsel with is the bishop and they are so busy, so I am pretty excited/passionate about the shift to it being more of a ward council responsibility. My 5 minute training went well and it was a great meeting.
The Chicfila dinner after was delicious and then we went right into the adult session which was also excellent. Matt had reached out to several people to see if they’d like to carpool to the stake center with him, but never did find anyone, so I sent him the link and he stayed home to watch. It was nice that he could be there with Delaney and Frankie anyway. Sweet Adi killed 3 hours rollerblading the parking lot and playing on her phone in one of the classrooms. She’s a good sport! Then on the way home the party van voted to pop in to see Anna at DQ. It was a Saturday well spent.
On Sunday Elder Yamashita had invited the youth up to an early morning meeting, so we packed up again the next morning at 7:15, picked up Danny, who Matt ministers to, and headed back to the stake center. I encouraged Delaney to sit with adi and Frankie in the chapel. She’s 6 months away from being in YW anyway, but she didn’t want to. We hung out on the stage and she pretended not to listen, but when he’d say something interesting or that there was obviously a relevant picture she’d stick her head out of the curtains to see. I sat with her and listened and rubbed her back and just went with it. π€·♀️

I had invited Jess to share her testimony and offered to keep her kids with us so she could sit on the stand. So even though it was a long meeting, everyone happily passed Hudson around and colored with Addie. They were both so good and the meeting was wonderful. The gospel can be fun and spiritual at the same time, and Elder Y toed the line perfectly.
Matt made hamburgers for dinner and we had a family walk and that was our stake conference weekend. ✔️
