We got home from camp at noon and spent the day doing laundry and putting things away. Adi went to babysit and the rest of us went to the pool. As a special treat for all of us I took the girls to get pedicures after being so dirty at girls camp.
This is only their second pedi and it was so fun to be with them relaxing and being pampered.
That afternoon we headed to EmmaLou’s birthday party.
I was on the fence but the girls really wanted to go.
And it was actually a really nice break from trip prep/cleaning/packing. I was still on a makeup hiatus, as you can see, but it was a million degrees out, so whatever.
Today we went to sacrament meeting and then hurried home. We had all our trip clothes laid out and quickly loaded the car and were off!
We got to the airport and then waited forever. 3 hours before international flights is a long time.
And then our flight was delayed an hour and a half. Blah.
The girls presented their gifts to each other, and they were all thoughtful and unique and I actually think everyone really liked what they got.
They had categories - something fun, something to eat, something beauty, and it was really cute to watch.
Some of the things they asked for specifically like that cute black hair bow. Because as Emma Lou taught us, “no bow, no go.” It’s a good motto.
These cute girls. It’s my favorite when they happily get along.
We waited and waited and waited.
We finally took off at 8:00. We got to the airport at 3:45. We flew Play Airlines, super low cost. Matt and I got an emergency exit row with only two seats, but they didn’t lean back so that was a big bummer. And then they didn’t turn the cabin lights off for the longest time, and even when they did we were so far north it basically stayed light the whole time. This beautiful sunset lasted for hours.
We tried to sleep, but it was noisy and light and the aforementioned seat situation was not ideal. And then there was a medical emergency and people were up and milling about and we pretty much gave up trying at that point.
These cute girls tried too, but it’s tough.
Since we’d left late, everyone on our flight was trying to bust the move to make their connecting flights. We had to go through customs, but at least we got a passport stamp out of it.
I had downloaded our boarding passes and thought it was kind of weird that we all had exactly the same seats as the first flight, but we’ve never flown Play, so didn’t question it. Adi and Frankie were row 42, but then when we boarded we saw the rows only went up to 37. We grabbed a flight attendant and he said my fav “wow, this has never happened before.” I seem to get a lot of those. He made some phone calls and finally got Matt put into row 7 and me in row 4. I’ve *never* sat so close to the front. Check this out:
I slept in spurts this flight and hopefully everyone else did too. We’ve been traveling for 16 hours at this point, but we’re landing in Paris as we speak and there’s no rest for the fun. ✈️ π π
