We grabbed croissants and leftover Burano cookies for brekkie and then headed to church with the Rimini Ward. They meet in this tiny converted home, my first church in a home experience, outside of my own home, obvi.
When we walked in we got ciao! And hugs from the American sister missionaries. ❤️
It was all in Italian, so we didn’t stay for the second hour. But we did go upstairs for the restroom and I love RS rooms.
We couldn’t understand what was said, but we heard Gesù Christo often and we partook of the sacrament and felt the spirit. We sang every song with them, in butchered Italian, but there’s something powerful about singing Su, soldati, in Guardia! (Onward Christian Soldiers) with 30 fellow saints in Italy. And their pianist was amazing. All he had was a keyboard, but it was obvious he loves to play and put in so many extra little flourishes, it was really fun to hear. Also, at one point the power went out, and the lady in the back row just stood up and switched the circuit breaker back on. Nothing to see here, just a normal Sunday.
Going to church makes me happy.
We went to Lidl to pick up brunch food and we wanted to buy everything. These packages of croissants were super tempting especially after I felt how soft they were, but they always have fresh ones in the bakery, soooo.
We got food, laundry detergent, and lotion and headed on our way.
We stopped at a fun lookout point and walked up hill (both ways) to the top of this cute and sleepy town.
We only went about 2 1/2 hours to another smallish town called Terranuova Bracciolini. We got the cutest double decker hotel room. The girls love being upstairs!

We got everything unloaded and Matt and I headed out to do laundey. By this day we’d been traveling for 2 weeks and hadn’t done any laundry. At least not in a machine. We’d washed underthings and a few larger items by hand, but we were majorly due for some washing. We found a laundromat and after a couple small fiascos (the machine timed out and kept our €20 and then another €10 for good measure) we managed to get 2 good sized loads done. We went for a little walk and don’t mind my weird face. €11 and 2 hours later (the owner met us there to give back our €30) and we had clean clothes again. Such a luxury.
It was still in the 90°’s but late afternoon and there was not a soul to be seen out and about. Shades are drawn and everybody’s inside. It’s weird.
We finished off our last Burano cookie for a pre-dinner snack. 😋
We hit up another Lidl for dinner because Matt felt better about that on a Sunday and so for dinner we enjoyed salad, yogurt, ice cream (we ate dessert first!), bread and cheese, and chips. Random but it did the job.
Then we went for a walk in their town square. Finally a few people out.
This is an old 1400’s church with over 250 coats of arms from all throughout history.
We had looked up things to do but there wasn’t a lot aaaand it was really hot aaaand we were tired, so we kept it simple and headed back for an early night.
Why are alleyways so cute?
And then Matt had read something about Pinocchio in the list of things to do, and I thought this mosaic was cool. I’m gonna do one someday soon!
