Day #204-#205

The stain. Now the urine stained carpet is lighter than the rest, but I’m hoping it evens out. 🤦‍♀️ It doesn’t stink anymore, so that’s half the battle.

Matt’s been flying his drone almost every evening. He loves it so much, which is so fun. I’m glad he’s found a hobby he loves and he is finding so much joy in.

We switched out all the girls summer clothes and shoes to winter; and even though that’s one of my dreaded mom jobs, it wasn’t that bad this year. We got the whole thing done yesterday and then did all the laundry today, so tomorrow morning everything will get put away and then we’ll be gtg. And these two! 😍

We did piano lessons and school and then addie and Matt checked out some mre’s. Addie is very interested in survival stories and prep, so she thought it was pretty rad. They haven’t enjoyed their mre dinner yet, but i know they’re both looking forward to it. Bubba came over too and we always love spending time with him.

I’ve been congested and stuffy and had a sore throat progressing for several days. So either a cold, or covid. Really it’s anyone’s guess. I’ve been double dosing on vitamins and thankfully I’m feeling much better today.

My neighbor Kim had this sign in her yard and when I texted her how much I liked it, she said she’d been sent an extra one and asked if we’d like it. So here we are! We’ve had some really good discussions with the girls, talking about policies and ideas, not people, and encouraging them to learn and question and that it’s ok if they don’t always agree with us. They are smart and thoughtful girls and have interesting ideas and insights. They’re learning to be good and responsible global citizens.

We got to chat with this bed head cutie. He likes to carry the phone around and gives it kisses and talks and dances. He is so fun!

Our old faithful vacuum died. We got this when we got married, so 14.5 years is a good long run. I googled how long vacuums usually last and it’s around 8 years. Then I googled if it’s worth it to repair a vacuum and found that no, it is not. Now the hunt is on for a new one, and with a long haired dog in the house, it’s important we act quickly.

Alli and I took the Tenkor to her vet appointment this morning. We couldn’t go in with her, but she willingly went with the vet tech, which was a pleasant surprise. They ended up having to sedate her because she only liked her vet tech and wouldn’t let anyone else near her. She has an anal gland infection which is why she’s been extra stinky and has had several accidents. I am so glad it’s an easy fix, I just have no words. It was really stressful and really stinky. She also is overweight, and got a cream for a sore on her leg that they are also testing. What a mess that stinky, chumbo poocbie is! She was so happy to see us when we picked her up! She could hardly stand and has been weak and pitiful all day. It also took 3 of us to get her meds down, so that was fun.

Frankie and Delaney had their first sign language class this evening. One of the cute missionaries in the LP ward is teaching it and they loved it! They know, like, 3 words, so of course they raised their hands when they asked who knew sign language. 😂🤦‍♀️

In other news. President Trump and basically his whole cabinet have tested positive for covid. It’s been a truly bananas week. The US has lost more than 210.000 people, and I’ve read that just 10% of us have been exposed. We’re coming up on flu season and that could be catastrophic, but maybe not? Feels like no one knows for sure. We’ve never gotten flu shots before, but this year it feels like we should, so I’ve made appointments for the girls and I’ll go one day when it doesn’t matter if I feel sick or not after. The election is less than a month away and i don’t think the craziness will be letting up any time soon.

In happy news, last Thursday was the first day since March that Maryland didn’t have a covid death. The numbers in St Mary’s have never been terribly bad, which is a blessing of living on a rural peninsula. There’s still tons of civil unrest and no real unifying leadership. The battle is on for a supreme court justice and also a covid relief bill. We pray for our leaders and our nation and ourselves to have the wisdom to know our roles and to be doers and not just hearers.
