Mid-week

This week has been punctuated with paint prep. Lots and lots of paint prep. Tuesday morning we woke up to a surprise day off of school because of an ice storm on Monday. There were loads of accidents so it was a good call to make. First a 2-hour-delay at 5am, and then around 8 a fully cancelled day. It came as such a gift, especially after a prickly angry ending to Monday.

The beginning of snow days start with such promise and excitement. We had a 2 hour Presidency meeting, much needed and so good. Everything in RS is changing - visiting teaching, Sunday curriculum, welfare, and it’s been hard to catch my breath. Then our first council meeting on Sunday was a little rough and I needed some assurances and counsel. It was such a good revelatory experience. We made dinner for neighbor Kim, who has had some unexplained illness, and then it seemed the gift of a snow day was over. There was a little more to it, but didn’t feel like much.

That evening was our Becoming a Tribe ARM at Rachael’s. We played games and had a good turn out and it was fun. After, alecia, Sarah and I went for a much needed walk where we froze (except Sarah, who hogged Isla 😉) and solved some of the world’s problems. Or at least some of our own. Darlaina moving is reminding me of how important it is to make the time for friends, which is usually going to be inconvenient, but is always important.

This sums up my feelings pretty much.

Today was the last day for Girl scout preorders, so naturally I took pictures and posted yesterday. 🙄

Taking pictures of these two is always so fun. Their fancy shot below, natural shot above.

And of course, the silly shot. Always, always, the silly shot.

I picked Ashby up from school on Wednesday. Addie came with an invitation to a birthday party at Ledo’s for Wednesday at 5:30. So, 2 hours from pickup time, and we had a friend over. But Addie was the lone party goer for this girls party last year, and Addie also, doesn’t always get invited, so it left me in a weird place. After talking to Addie I figured we could drop Ashby off when we dropped off dinner to her family, and then take Addie to the Ledo’s party. In addition to juggling the little girls dance, and then A days. Always crazy, even when I try and vow not to be. But then when we went to drop the dinner, they were outside waiting for an ambulance for D’s mom who they feared was having a heart attack (she was).

So then we rearranged and I took all their girls back to our house to eat the dinner we’d made, then took Ad’s to her party, fed everyone, picked Addie back up, picked the girls back up, and off to church we went. Moving is so stressful and adding in a scary illness is just ugh. But here’s Ad’s at her party, where she was the only friend again, (lots of family) so I think we made a good choice.

We ended up keeping Alva and Ash the night, and then Alva today. Today was complete paint prep - wiping walls, spackle, pulling out nails, moving things around, and then farewell lunch for Darlaina.

It was so warm today! It was just lovely and wonderful after the single digit craziness we’ve been facing. The littlest girls, who sometimes complain about walking were all in and so cute - Alva wanted to wear D’s backpack.

Laura took the girls for dinner while matt and I finished off paint prep. All the recessed lights, taking down or the tv, setting up tarps, I actually don’t know why it takes so long, maybe it’s just me, but it has. It’s probably that I’m a spaz and I get distracted. Tomorrow sets off painting weekend and I’m so excited for it to be done!
