suttler farm

on Saturday a friend from the neighborhood organized a trip out to sutler farm to see the Clydesdales. since matt was working, I thought that would be the perfect thing to do to occupy our morning. when we got there the kids were all playing with some huge tortoises.
all except for this cool cat, who was chillin' by the jolly green.
this one loved them!
we hung out there for awhile and then went into the stable where the horses were kept. this one was nice and friendly and ready to visit.
this is a regular horseshoe...
this is a Clydesdale horseshoe.

they are crazy giant!

and this beauty had blue eyes. I don't ever remember seeing a horse with blue eyes, but when I asked wayne, he said they get lots of them.
Frankie asked to take a picture. and Delaney really was having a fun time, despite the look on her face.
he asked addie to hold the rope to tie the horse too so we could pet him and brave girl was totally all over that.
up close and personal. this guy weighed 1800 lbs.
miss talk show host, as per the norm,  asked a million questions. I love that she is inquisitive and not afraid to talk to people. she asked if she could see the horses hairbrush (such a girl) and wayne not only got her the brush, but let her brush the horse too. she was sooo happy!
next!
after our time with the Clydesdales we headed to see the doves. they have quite the wedding business, the Clydesdales pull wedding carriages, so they offer a dove package too.
little miss questions!
they let the doves out and they just chill in the barn building.
everyone collected feathers.
the brave kids even went into the super smelly barn where the homing birds are.
hello!
we had a great morning there. every time I visit a farm I think I should have been a farmer girl. what a life.
kim and her kids rode with us and after the tour we pulled a table into the stable and had a picnic lunch. there was a nice cross breeze blowing and it was such a comfortable time with good friends.
addie took my phone to take some pictures and this ensued. she'd take a pic of the horse, then his nametag. she's pretty artsy with the camera. :)
some of addie's work:
nice face, froggie.
after the horses we dropped kim and crew off and headed to see abby, who is still recovering from having her tonsils taken out. the girls all played really nicely together and I got to visit with sarah and tony.

when we left there, we made a plan. we decided we'd come home, pick up rooms and start laundry, make bracelets from addie's birthday kit, have a piece of ice cream cake, take a bath, and watch big hero 6 (another birthday gift). everything went smoothly and we quickly and funly got through day 1 of daddy's working weekend. hooray!

that night when I finally looked at fb I got to read all about the trip to nj the us lighthouse society planned. this picture of our fellow lighthousers made me laugh and laugh. these are our peeps! we are a fun loving bunch, i'll tell ya that much. ;)
chris worked all day cutting faces off of crabs. from 9:30-8:30 and he said they were busy the whole time. he's still enjoying it though, so that's good. :)
