we celebrated addie's birthday on sunday (the 10th),
since i was out of town on her actual birthday and i couldn't handle her thinking i wasn't there for her special day. darn having two kids born on the same day!
for breakfast addie requested that she help make chocolate chip letter pancakes.
her "a" got a little broken, but still good. :)
candles on the pancakes. we re-lit 4 times. you gotta stretch the celebration as much as you can.
before church we also made her cake. she loves helping!
addie had a special day at church too. she gave her first talk in primary. it was about tithing, which was perfect because she went to buy her bike on saturday, so we had her pay her tithing for the first time. super precious. :) then after her talk, she got spotlighted. but instead of reading her old questions, they asked her the questions again and let her answer on the spot. she did so good! she stood up in front of the primary and just talked and talked. she said her favorite thing to do with her family is to watch tv (figures), she loves to pick out books and movies, her favorite book is pinkalicous (yuck!), she also loves to eat popcorn and watch movies (figures again!), her favorite food is soup and noodles, and still not milk, but she does like water. and ice. AND a straw. love it!
then after church she helped me decorate her cake. she and matt had seen this cute butterfly cake on an m & m's bag and we decided that would be a fun birthday cake. her m & m cake decorating is a lot like her strawberry picking. place one candy, eat one candy, and repeat.
it turned out pretty cute. especially for a 4-year-old concoction.
and her birthday was so low-key and easy that i didn't even transfer the cake to a clean cake plate. super easy-peasy for me, thankyouverymuch.
singing happy birthday to her.
this little girl has been so sweet lately. helpful and kind and compassionate. one week in and i am loving 4-years-old. :)
happiness.
oh, and alexis and christian straightened her hair and did her make up before church. they are so helpful...
so proud of herself.
while she was opening her presents, she kept saying "this is the best birthday ever!"
so easily pleased!
her bike will be here next week (we had to order a special pink one), so she got a few princess mermaids for the pool, a bike helmet, and a merida doll from disneys new brave movie. we also promised a special big girl mommy/daddy date to see brave when it comes out on june 22. she's super excited, and even though we have a countdown on the calendar, she's asked every day if brave is out yet.
even though we didn't do much, she had a really good day. :)
4-year-old nerd. :)
