When Christian was sick lots of people asked me how I knew it was meningitis and that he needed to go to the ER. The reason I knew anything about meningitis, and what to watch for, is because of my beautiful cousin Lauren. Lauren contracted bacterial meningitis and passed away 8 years ago. She was only 17.

Her death educated me on the risks of meningitis. And even though Christian is fine, I am so grateful that we were able to get him treated quickly.
And it's because of her.
