New Years Eve

The Finlayson’s were supposed to fly out the morning of the 30th. Unfortunately poor Emmi got sick the night before and didn’t sleep all night. His pediatrician thinks he might have asthma, and he was struggling to breath, so they cancelled their morning flight and Cade took him to the ER at Children’s. It was sad and frustrating, but Children’s is such a good hospital and they were able to get in early and get cared for and not be there all day. His Covid test was negative, and they gave him a long breathing treatment and an inhaler to take home. Amy and sandy paid for them to stay in the same hotel another night and then they were able to get a flight out on the 31st, so loads of blessings. They had another long night, but Em was definitely starting to feel better.

I took Amy and Sandy on a Leonardtown tour (it’s a short one😂) and we tried to go to an Amish shop but the Amish were having some kind of event because they were all closed and we saw at least a dozen buggies heading north up 5. We decided to grab a crab cake and some crab dip for nye and had to send bubba some pics.

We also went to the commissary and had a lovely afternoon. This cute crew made it to the airport and everyone was doing better.

And they were on their way! They finally made it home just before midnight. I’m so grateful they take the time to come home so frequently. It’s not easy to travel with babes, but we cherish the time together.

Amy wanted to do a balloon drop. We had loads of balloons and since our setup was a tad precarious, we let them do the ballon drop before midnight.

It was cute and they were all so excited.

So. Many. Balloons.

We all worked to corral them and send them down to the basement for hours of frolicking and play.

The kids all got along really well, it was such a fun visit.

The kids played with the balloons in the basement all night.

They also drew, made iMovies, and played games.

And of course, always artsy.

Game time and appetizers for dinner.

Around 11 things were a little crazy downstairs. The kids came upstairs to check the time, and then matt had the idea to change the clocks and do an early countdown to get them to bed a little earlier. Even though they’d just checked the time, they were all “yay! 10 more minutes till midnight!”

Amy also brought these confetti cannons. Things got exciting when everyone finally figured out how to let the cannons off. This one makes me laugh. My finger is in the way and everyone was surprised at the noise and force of the confetti. 😂 matt is especially awesome.

Happy new year dancing.

Amy had to help everyone with their cannons.

Martinelli’s toasts all around.

New Years crew!

And a giant head with the crew.

The kids happily went to bed at 11:30 and the 4 parents set about cleaning 10 lbs of confetti. I washed the dishes while everyone else cleaned and vacuumed and swept. Then we watched the ball drop and caught some celebrations around the world and chatted. Fabulous New Year’s Eve.  🎉
