Philadelphia - Part 1

Our ward temple day was Saturday. The youth baptisms we’re at 8:30 and we had planned to do a ward endowment session at 11:30. So our family planned to leave at 6:00 since we didn’t need to be there for the baptisms. We ended up leaving at 6:15, so not too bad. These little girls don’t usually sleep when they get up early for traveling

Addie and Frankie were up for the day.

This little piggy stayed asleep for a long time though. And then on the way home, the roles were reversed and A and F fell asleep pretty quickly and D was the last gal standing.

Delaney is convinces she’ll live in Delaware when she grows up. I mean, they share the first 4 letters. And also it was blustery and rainy.

Our first stop in Philadelphia was Reading Terminal Market. This gang had never been there, and they loved it as much as I do! We got donuts, a smoothie, and some stuffed grape leaves. V random are we.

The G-waters so generously watched kids (with the youths help) across the street at the church again. Things at the temple didn’t go according to my plan, but that actually ended up being the best plan, which so often happens and someday I’ll learn.

We love this temple and we love Philadelphia, we just wish it wasn’t so very far away.

I love this guy. We had a great drive up, a wonderful few hours in the temple, a fun time enjoying Philadelphia. After a scary and stressful situation at home, it was just the right kind of Saturday.

How exciting to visit the Temple AND Philadelphia. All that history there. Not that far from Fort Monmouth. One of our many adventures when we were stationed at Fort Monmouth was driving to Philly to pickup the pets after we got a place to live there.

What a trip that was...roundabouts and traffic in 1973. I refused to drive the tollways. It was 90+ miles of dread followed by 90+ miles of relief. I just remember being very frustrated and wary of those stupid roundabouts. That was our only adventure to Philadelphia. And I many have driven it alone, I don't remember. Just those damned roundabouts.

I just visited Google and it looks like the house we lived in on Broadway has been torn down. Looks like the whole neighborhood has been razed. No pier at the end of Broadway. Ah, the times do change things a wee bit.

That should be our next trip...Eatontown and Fort Monmouth!!

Hooah!!
