frankie froggie

frankie is getting so big. she'll be 2 1/2 this month and (fingers and tossed crossed) has finally gotten on board with the potty training. she gladly goes when we remind her and she's been dry (at home only, but still!) for 2 days. when we go out we still do pull-ups, so we'll have to keep working on that one. small victories!
little miss franks has only one speed.
 and that speed is slooooooooooow.
she is really doing a great job at teaching me patience.
for as rough and tough as she is, she's really a sensitive little soul and she doesn't respond well to anger or negativity. she actually shuts down to it. which, i'm embarrassed to say, leaves me with even less patience. but, i'm starting to understand her and how i can gently teach and guide her without losing my temper. because if i do, it's over for her and i. and i need to have more patience.
and really, she's just so darn cute.
she loves hard and fast. her mama and daddy, her siblings (d-money has a super soft spot in her heart) her friends, her other fav's (aina, mike, mttombs, dister darrow). she gives awesome hugs and kisses and can be such a little cuddlebug, especially if she gets hurt, which miss drama queen does frequently.
she still loves her juicey but for the last few months we've been slowly weaning her off and she's been doing well. she also enjoys "bate, bate, chocolate" (stir the chocolate ((milk)), thank you dora!) and pink milk. she's slow to eat, unless it's sugary, and then we're good to go.
she's very expressive and her vocabulary is exploding. and if we don't understand her and ask her what she said she'll say exactly the same thing, only louder. it's awesome.
when asked her name she yells "frankie ray!" when asked how old she is she'll say "i'm 4," (or 5, or 1, or whatever she feels like). except for her love of books, she's not very studious... yet.
 hoping that will change.
she's a girly princess girl, loves dress-up and make-up and nail polish, but also football and frogs and diego. she still loves animals a lot. she loves reading, the beach, playing dollhouse, dinosaurs, and gymnastics. she does not love washing her hair (although it's getting better), hurrying (with anything), or apple peel (she eats around it).
she's a total middle child, has a fiery temper, but loves to help. and at times she can be so intuitive. she'll look me in the eyes and say "mommy, you happy?" and just how can you not be happy when a 2-year-old asks you that? i'm sure i don't know.
she knows her colors and as long as she's not too distracted she'll tell you what color things are. she can count to 11, sing the alphabet, and knows some letters, mostly that frankie starts with an f. she knows her shapes, loads of songs and nursery rhymes, always puts her shoes on the wrong feet (at least she's consistent), and tries to be helpful.

she's content to do things on her own schedule and often says "i don't know how," without a real desire to do anything about it. she's her own stubborn girl and i hope that will translate to a faithful and strong and good young woman.

she's a sweet, strong, sensitive little dreamer, this little frankie girl of ours.

And I love miss Frankie too! Only, for some reason, I've always called her Frankie pants. :)
