addie-socks m ray

so apparently my addie girl is a little weirdo. alecia said she's so funny and answers everything with "huh?" and sarah laughingly agreed that she's a little off. her primary teachers say she marches to the beat of her own drum, which is basically a nice way of saying - weirdo! and i'm actually good with it. :)
*addie, she's so hot right now.
her weirdness does surprise me, but i don't know why, cause she makes the funniest faces for pictures and she is a little odd.
*shaking her moneymaker at the bball game
but she's also my sweet helper girl. she acts so much like the oldest, even though she's technically the middle child, she's more like the oldest of the little girls. she is bos-sy! she'll say "frankie, you listen to mom!" and then quickly say "oh, i'm sorry," because she knows i don't like for her to be bossy.
she's always willing to help mama out and almost always willing to help her sibs. she'll hold laney, help frankie on the potty, and bring bubba his drink. she carries things and holds onto laney's foot if i don't have a hand to give her (if i start crossing the street without her having grabbed the foot she'll yell "i'm not safe!" and quickly remedy the situation) and she feeds her sisters.
she's been eating like a boss lately! she usually packs in 2 eggs, toast, and a piece of fruit for breakfast - love it! she loves fruit (any), taquitos, carrots, anything sweet, pretzels (always the best pool snack according to miss a.m.ray), and noodles. i love finally having a good eater!!!
she doesn't like cleaning, but lately (like this day when frankie spilled the craft beads all over the floor because she was trying to pick up laney) she'll say, "i'll clean it myself." and for the most part she did.
she loves to watch tv (sad face) but is becoming slightly more mature in her viewing choices. for example, every sunday we've been watching donny osmond's joseph and the amazing technicolor dreamcoat. it's always been a favorite of matt's and now it's turned in to a fav for all of us. (even the big kids are singing the songs all day after a viewing!)
*we sent this pic to matt on sunday when he was working at the navy
she's doing really good at gymnastics. she waits patiently for her turn and then she listens and tries to follow coach kim's instructions.
some fav addie expressions: "what in the world?!," "my turn to be the sweetheart!," and "probably i don't think so."
some fav pronunciations: lemonade=little mermaid, sink=think, and grill=girl.
*walking sideways on the beam, such concentration.
she loves to read, but hasn't shown any real interest in actually learning to read. she's a pro with scissors, letters, matching, sequencing, patterns, and one-to-one correspondence. she is not a pro with numbers (still doesn't care to try to recognize them) or writing her name (she used to write it beautifully. now, not so much). she loves crafts, cooking, babies, helping, coloring, cutting, and swimming. she does not love school. but hopefully we'll be over that phase soon.
*and jump.
she's a pro on her bike and very safety conscious. she's been anti shorts and pants for about a year now, but on the second and third days of school she chose, much to my surprise, shorts. will wonders never cease?
like most 4-year-olds, she's got a huge imagination.
she's got babies, and sweethearts, and big homes that she's dreamed up.
she dreamed about robots last night and told me all about it.
she asked if she could be a mom when she grows up and after a shower last week when i wore my turbie towel on my head she looked at me lovingly and said she wanted to be just like me.
melted my heart even if it was mostly because she wants a piece of my turbie towel.
she fights naps with every fiber of her being but if she accidentally slows down at all she almost always falls asleep. even on the steps sometimes. she loves having her back, arms, and/or legs rubbed and you can pretty much bribe her into anything if you offer that.
she's pretty fearless (unless she's been ghost hunting recently or decided she's scared of the smoke detector light. again). she climbs and tries new things all the time.
she'll smash any bug she sees. she'll defend herself, her friends, and her family to anyone that needs to be put in their place.
she's our big, sweet, school going, weird, beautiful nerdy girl and we just love her so much.
