Shopping in the big city

Today was our big shopping day! My friend Kirsten and I have been talking about going shopping in Lubbock forever, so it was really nice to finally go! I hadn't been there since a couple months before Addison was born, so I was ready!

Just for a frame of reference, Lubbock is about an hour and 45 minutes southeast of us. It's not a huge city, only about 200,000 people there, but it's huge compared to Clovis! AND most importantly they have all the good stores!!! Target, Old Navy, Babies'R'Us, you name it!!! And tons of restaurants we don't have too!

Any shopping trip to Lubbock becomes an all day event. This was, like I said before, my first time taking Addison, and then Kirsten had her 7 month old son Jaron (Addie's boyfriend), so we knew it would be an adventure!

She picked us up at 8:00 this morning and we started our voyage. Here's a shot of the babies in Kirsten's cool baby mirror. We were just starting out and they had both fallen asleep. So sweet!

Our first stop was a strip mall that has lots of stores we were excited to go to. We did dilly-dally a little bit, but then before we knew it, and after only going to two stores, it was already 1:00! We were both kinda shocked at how late it was, but the kids were still behaving pretty well (at least when we held them) so we kept on going.

After all that shopping we were ready for lunch so we had a nice sit-down lunch and then on to Babies'R'Us for more fun. Old Navy was right around the corner so we headed over there next. We both had to make pit-stops at Old Navy to feed the babies, and I guess we must have dilly-dallied some more because we didn't leave there until 5:30! So that's 4 stores, and a lunch, in 7 and a half hours! Traveling with babies is pretty darn slow! Especially with two of everything - babies, strollers, car seats, diapers, feeding - you get the idea!

That being said, it was also really fun! The babies were really good! Up until the ride home that is. That's when things got ugly. It started with Addison (doesn't it always?!). She started her whiny cry, you know the "I'm tired and cranky and I'm just gonna make noise" cry. After a few minutes of that, Jaron had had enough and he started making some whiny noises. At that point they were tag-teaming it, one would cry, then the other would cry. After a few minutes of that though, they both decided they had had enough! Here is what we heard for about half an hour.

Jaron was the first to give in and fall asleep, but not until he had cried for over half an hour. But not my daughter, she's no quitter! She cried like that for nearly an hour! Then she fell asleep for about 20 minutes but woke up after we went over some railroad tracks about 20 minutes outside of town. Needless to say she cried and woke Jaron up and then he cried. Poor baby, to be woken up by the sound of Addie whining! We finally made it home and both babies were fine as soon as we picked them up.

So here's what I have to show for being gone 11 hours, 4 of those hours spent in the car, 4 stores (yup that's all), and what will remain an undisclosed amount of money.

Ahhh, I love shopping! Thanks Kirsten and Jaron for a fun trip!

Ahh, the fun of all day shopping trips...just think in no time at all you will have all those stores at your fingertips and do them one at a time:)
