Hawaii- Day 4 Polynesian Cultural Center

We went straight from the ranch to the PCC for our luau.

We had just enough time to grab lunch from the food trucks and then we were off!

We didn’t know what to expect, and we were pleasantly surprised. We loved our day at the PCC.

We got sorted into a group of 12 people with a guide that showed us around all of their villages.

They showcase the 6 island villages of Hawaii, Aotearoa, Fiji, Sonia, Tonga, and Tahiti.

We went around to each one and learned dances, about their food, saw shows, took a canoe ride, and saw where they lived.

It was hot hot hot, but with lots of water filling stations everywhere.

We loved the canoe ride because we love water. 🤷‍♀️

It all was so well done, it’s like a theme park.

And the cute workers there are all BYU Hawai’i students and such wonderful ambassadors for their home cultures and also for the church.

The guy standing up was so funny! He’s an artist named Kap and he’s been working at the PCC on and off for like 40 years. He was hilarious. And he climbs a coconut tree like nobody.

Coconut tree climbing show. So wild!

The day started at noon and at 5:00 our luau started. We had to do a luau while we were in Hawaii, so we figured why not support BYU and the students there.

They gave us a lei and the most delicious pina colada! With refills. 😋

Core memory unlocked.

They had a show during dinner and the food was so delicious!

Bringing in the pig.

Garlic shrimp, kalua pork, fresh caught baked fish, fresh fruits, it was all so tasty!

I want to remember this special day always. ❤️

After dinner we took a tram around Laie with some cute missionaries. We made friends with a Canadian couple and talked about the craziness going on in the world and we assured them that we’re not all cheering it on. We love our neighbors to the north! They came to the PCC last time they were in HI and they loved it so much they came back, which I think is pretty cool.

At 7:00 our show started - Hā: Breath of Life. It was pretty incredible. The fire dancing and breathing and walking made me nervous but was still amazing and I cried when the dad died. It was really sweet.

And then we found ourselves driving back to our cabana again. That’s 3 nights we spent in Laie and it was a ways from our cabana, but it was a pretty drive and we loved every minute we spent in Laie!
