3am wake up, 3:30 load into the space car, 5am arrival at BWI.
Grown up kids are wonderful. Both Alexis and Damian gave us hugs and told us not to worry, they’ve got everything, and to just have the best time. They are sacrificing to stay with the girls so we can have this experience and I’m really grateful. What a life.
I got us brekkie sandwiches from Dunkin’ and after they closed the doors to the plane was able to move to sit by Matt. We slept off and on the first 2 hours and a 6 and a half hour flight later, landed happily in San Francisco.
We grabbed a $26 snack at the airport and got going on our 5 hour flight to Honolulu. We were able to trade seats again and sit together and even though it was the longest travel day, it wasn’t the worst.
The car rental place I used is not actually at the airport, but after some confusion we were able to get picked up and our kind driver said as far as he was concerned he picked us up Tuesday so he wasn’t charging us to have the car an extra day. 🤗 So happy that worked out! Matt found us a room on Pearl Harbor/Hickam, and choice hotels refunded our hotel for the night we didn’t stay in Baltimore. So everything worked out!
After we checked in we walked to the exchange, which felt so good after sitting and traveling for 14 hours. There were a few small things we forgot that we picked up at the exchange and grabbed dinner from their food court. And check out this ceiling in their food court!
Delicious food court meal that we sat on the patio and ate outside.
It’s beautiful and warm and we’re loving everything about this.
Also, chickens and roosters just wandering around.
We got to bed at 8pm, which is 1am our time, so I think we did pretty well. A good first bonus day!
