Hawaii - Day 3

Started the day with some laundry. Friday is a busy day and then we fly to Kauai Saturday, so it was nice to get it done and Matt worked on his computer.

Our little nook of the island is beyond a many lane very active runway, so they check our id’s every time and sometimes we have to wait for planes taking off or landing.

On our way out for the day we stopped at the library and they had my drink bank idea with a drink truck selling flavored soda and coffee. I got a lavender vanilla crème soda and it was so good!

I said I might stop, not that I would…

It was north shore day, first stop - Dole Plantation! We decided to ride the Pineapple Express.

They made us. 🤣

It was cool to see the agricultural on that side of the island. Matt and I decided we need to buy a few acres. 🤣

It was a cute little 20 minute ride.

Red soil like on Prince Edward Island. ❤️

The Dole Whip was amazing.

We got a sweatshirt and coconut syrup that I’m really excited about, and headed for some Matsumoto Shave Ice. It’s supposed to be the best on the island and it was pretty good. I got the Ichiban Special with ice cream, but I didn’t love the sweet beans, and the mochi and waffle cone bowl had no flavor. But the ice cream and ice were good.

We explored around and talked to a few surf shops. I made Matt do some shopping at Volcom since they’re going out of business. He never likes to buy for himself, so I strong armed him.

He finally decided to rent a board from Sun and Surf, so for about 2 hours he paddled his heart out trying to catch a wave. The told us about several places to surf where the waves aren’t too massive, but still fun. He didn’t have a lot of success, but it’s also been like 10 years since he’s even tried, so I was still impressed. And he can say he surfed the north shore, so that’s cool.

This was my spot.

That’s a tired old pappy!

After, we were starving. All we’d eaten is a shared Dole Whip and a shared shave ice. So we found a food truck we liked and tucked in.

I got a garlic steak and Matt got a salad and fresh mango and we shared and it was so good!

We continued our driving tour of the island (so beautiful!) and headed back to the Laie temple where we met the cutest family, the son served a missing in Baltimore, and we did sealings together. It was another beautiful evening at the temple. That temple is very busy and we love to see that.

We’ve driven almost the whole island and we are definitely sold. We love it here.
