Luxembourg

We decided to get brekkie at our hotel. Because Seneffe is in southern Belgium it is very French feeling, so our brekkie buffet was very French. The best croissants, local meats and cheeses, and freshly prepared hot cocoa for the girls - it was all so yummy!

Just me and my bae.

A family selfie in our apartment before we headed out for the day.

The hotel is made up of 4 or 5 buildings formed into a square with a couryard in the middle. It used to be a stud farm, so it’s rustic and cute.

Christmas decorations are the prettiest.

Matt wants to get our Christmas card picture here, and while I agree it would be cool, it seems too early to take next years card picture. 🀷‍♀️

The doors to the hotel front office.

And the backside. We stayed upstairs on this side.

We wanted the girls to see the little village in the daylight, so we set off.

And found this adorable back path.

The girls were not thrilled to walk in the rain, but it was only sprinkling and they are fine.

Bridges just scream ‘take a picture!’

Still absolutely enthralled with Europe.

The school had these colorful… pieces of art? Matt wanted everyone to look grumpy because of the rain.

This beautiful church circa 1722.

We set out in search of a Belgian chocolatier, but our first stop was a bust. I’m sensing a theme that I hope doesn’t continue. But happy accident, we stumbled upon this library that our library lover got to check our.

Matt thinks this flat bottomed boat right next to the library floated the canals in this little town near Seneffe.

Our next chocolatier down the road worked out swimmingly,  and even though he spoke no English, we were able to pick up what we wanted.

Soooo good! We shared each piece and are trying to stretch out the deliciousness as long as we can!

We stopped off the Castle of VΓͺves, but they were closed. Whomp whomp.

I wasn’t 100% sold on going in anyway, so it was fine and nice to walk around.

We both needed a ‘water closet,’ so we popped into this gas station where we were able to use the WC for free and found these delicious Belgian waffles. Score score.

And across the street Matt was able to get a picture on Le Tank, so winning all around.

Our hotel for the night is less than 10 minutes inside the Luxembourg border, so we were all excited when we made it and that we were able to stop at the sign!

One foot in Belgium, one foot in Luxembourg. No border crossing checkpoint, no customs.

It was only 2 hours between hotels, so not bad at all.

We are loving our mini tour of Europe!

We always kiss when we cross a state or country line. It’s just a sweet thing we’ve always done. ♥️

Sunny and sprinkling - it was so beautiful.

Our hotel apartment is right above a cute restaurant.

That soaking tub! 4/5 of us took a bath tonight and it was heavenly! And a towel warmer? Matt’s dream!

Everybody loves the windows that open all the way and the freedom of no screen.

Belgian waffle love.

Troisvierges (3 virgins, not 3 greens like I though it was πŸ˜‚) has lots of hikes and bike routes, so Matt found one and off we went.

This memorial on top of a hill was where several soldiers were murdered by Gestapo officers. None were American, so we’re not sure why there was a US flag there. 🀷‍♀️

This hike had everything! Rural, uphill, flat, residential, sidewalks, dirt roads, and urban stores.

We ended up walking right past our hotel (if we’d known we would have started there πŸ˜‚) and decided to let the girls go up to the apartment since they’d already walked a mile and Delaney’s legs just always hurt. πŸ™„ Sooo glad we did, because it got very dark before we finished and we ended up hiking up and downhill over wet leaves in the pitch black of night. I held onto Matt’s sweater and he used his phone as a flashlight, and it was pretty wild. I told Matt I’d probably enjoy it once it was over, but it was a little creepy while we were hiking. And now that it’s over and we’re safe and no one fell, I did enjoy it after all. πŸ‘‡πŸ» train lights from our pitch black mountain perch.

We were a little hungry after our 4 mile trek, so we headed to  Lidl to find some dinner, and thoroughly enjoyed perusing their cute grocery store. We got brochen, pretzels, yogurt, fruit, chips, macaroons, chocolate cookies, and also detergent for when we get to a washing machine.

Matt and I were talking about how simple we are. This trip is extravagant and amazing, but we don’t need to do extravagant things every day to have fun. We love driving and hiking around and grocery store dinners and soaking tubs. Today was a very good day. We’re having the best time!

Keen fun!! I think you got those 'simple' genes from your parents. We did Europe like that (more out of necessity than choice)and had a blast!!
