Elms beach

On Thursday I got to go on my first (of many, I'm sure) field trip to elms beach. It was so fun! We learned all about Chesapeake bay animals. Like little baby frogs.
We collected shells and got to take a cute picture on the bridge.
Addie is so super goofy. Her friend that's a boy, Adam, is just as off the wall. Talk about a match made in heaven!
?
She's an odd duck. I asked miss huber if Addie always acted weird and she said that they were all weird, and yes, Addie always acted strange. She said that's good though, because Addie won't let anyone else's opinion sway her. She said one child will say something or other is cool, and because of that, several of the others will blindly agree. But not my Addie. She calls it like she sees it and will stand her ground. I hope that will bode well for her as she grows. For better or worse, she acquired this trait from her daddy, not from me.
Instead of collecting shells, Addie chose to collect rocks. Sea rocks are pretty cool. I had to constantly persuade her to get some shells along with her rocks. And then we had a little situation where she tried to sneak some extra rocks home in her coat pocket. Quick chat with her and she apologize and agreed to put the rocks back, with a promise that we will come collect rocks at the beach many, many times this summer. Quirky girl.
They eat lunch at school at 10:30, so they were ravenous when we finally ate at 12. My fav lunch was packed by a boy in my group, max's dad. It was a huge sandwich that had gotten super smooshed, and a bagel. (: dads are so fun!
Love this chic!
Lexi says Addie will always be the weird kid, but people will still like her because she's pretty. (:
This was right before Addie got in trouble for shaking a box of eggs thy were strongly admonished not to shake.
My fav activity was finding birds in the meadow. They were each given a card with a pic of a bird and sent to find their stuffed bird in the trees, brush, and open meadow. It was fun and cute.
Addie found a downy woodpecker and a mallard.
We built sand castles complete with flag, moat, bridge, and tower. Miss huber helped us dig down to the water table. She's been a good teacher for Addie and is well loved. (:
Foggy gorgeousness.
Admiring all the sand castles.
And then the turtle races.
They did a really good job keeping the kiddos entertained and making it fun. Sadly, our turtle lost, but it was still a super fun day. (:
