princess party

sunday started with books and cooking.
(lots of cooking.)
i love little moments like this and i love capturing them and knowing i'll see them again because i have them on my blog.
what a blessing.
church was excellent. all about family, family, family.
funny, that's been on my mind too lately.
i must be in tune. ;)

poor franks had a rough day.
she hit her cheek at home and then after church she got road rash on her nose and chin.
but all was not lost because we still had princess party fun to look forward to.
sofia the first premiered on disney junior and we were all so excited!
okay, the little girls and i were so excited.
we printed a couple copies of their viewing party kit and had fun planning out a menu (that i very loosely followed) and decorating. so, i was going to make petit fours but ran out of powdered sugar (the commissary didn't have any when i went!) and i was going to make little tea sandwiches but then i figured the little girls would probably just like the hoagie bread and we were going to have "tea" but we don't have any cute tea cups and i didn't want to set the precedent by putting real beverages in their play tea set. so the menu was sort-of-princessy.
we did have chocolate covered strawberries and pretzels, pasta salad, subs with all the fixins', including heather's "crack bacon" that i messed up but was still yummy, chips and dips, and of course my princess castle cake. the little girls were amazed at my mad cake decorating abilities. everyone else agreed that it looked great... for a 4th grader to have made it.
 ahh well, we'll try again.
little miss helper girl addie decorated all of our description cards.
we had the mccombs over to watch and the 3 little girls enjoyed some princessy sweetness.
before the movie we did some sofia mad libs and the girls made their crowns.
ta-da!
laura was home sick, so we sent her some "we miss you" pics.
after, i made frankie's crown.
by this time the movie had started and the three little princess could hardly be bothered to pose for pictures.
and not to be forgotten, laney the first.
the movie was cute, the food was yummy, and the friends were fun.
yay. :)

Fun! What a great mom!!!
Fyi: if you put regular sugar in the blender you can make your own powdered sugar
