point lookout lighthouse

we are done.
the last of our local lighthouses has been climbed.
sigh.
on saturday laura and i (and lanes) headed south to the point lookout lighthouse.
it's supposedly the most haunted lighthouse in the country because it's located next to an old civil war prison camp. we didn't see any ghosts but it was pretty cool.
the inside is totally dilapidated.
they're trying to fix it up but it's got lead paint and asbestos and it's gonna be super expensive. :(
eunice here was born inside cove point lighthouse (just across the water) and lived there in the point lookout lighthouse for 13 years. pretty awesome!
after the tour we climbed to the top.
and then up this narrow ladder.
and then through this narrow entryway.
laura went first, then i passed delaney up, then i squeezed through.
and the top!
we could see all the way to point no point, so cool!
it was sup-ah windy, but we took like 100 of these pics so i had to at least post one.
even though it's not very good.
the littlest lighthouse buddy.
laney, not me. ;)
and then we asked someone to take our pics on the steps.
love that he got the grass and not the cupola. ;)
very fun morning with two very fun ladies.
and now we've been to all the lighthouses in southern maryland.
but guess what?
michigan has 121!
vaca!!!

Now that you know where they all are, you need to do a photo essay. A pictorial presentation of your affection for these architectural wonders that we'll never see again.

Do it!! Start planning now and do one a month during the summer months.

C'mon, get started and when I retire I'll join you.

Hooah!!
