Warwick Castle

I wanted to make sure the girls got a turn riding in the passenger driver side of the car. Delaney selfie.

We did a little back to school shopping at some of the stores near our hotel and laughed at these funny Lidl kicks.

Delaney is feeling herself and she and I do not agree on fashion at the moment. I persuaded her to try on this adorable outfit, but she wasn’t having it.

She did however love this sweatshirt from the boys section and if she wants to wear sweatshirts in the summer, I’m not gonna fight about it. Everyone, including Matt found something fun to bring home and remind us of our time in England.

Nola had told us about Warwick Castle, and it did not disappoint.

We got there later than we hoped, but we still managed to walk 16,000 steps and were pretty done with walking by the time they closed.

Delaney loved this silly time mix-up maze.

She could have stayed there all day.

They got passports and were able to stamp them as they learned their British history.

I hung out with this guy while the girls ran around.

He happily posed with their props.

The directions were to flip the pic upside down. A lot of British history is harsh, man.

It was a little bit chilly in the morning, but then it warmed up and was an absolutely pleasant day.

The grounds are stunning.

And windy. We climbed up to this overlook on our way to the Birds of Prey show.

We grabbed some fish and chips to share as we watched the bird show.

There were peacocks running around these gardens. And the peacocks talk to each other. It’s an odd and sad sound.

There were several different castle tours, and the girls chose the ghost one. They showed us around and told us stories and then we all voted about if we believed each story was true, and then they’d give more corroborating evidence, or tell us why they think whatever story wasn’t true. My vote was wrong about almost all of them. 🤷‍♀️

Have I mentioned we were tired? We’ve had a busy and fun two weeks!

Beautiful ceiling!

After our tour we meandered the castle on our own.

Then we went to the war of the roses show and learned about the tudors.

It was almost closing time, so we hustled to the Time Tower. It was really cool and at the end the people in each of these picture frames guided us through the castle owners through the years.

We walked about 10 minutes towards Knights Village to check in for our night of glamping.

We got to stay in one of these yurts - aren’t they the cutest?!

We dropped our overnight bag off and then made our way to dinner in the lodge.

After we odd manned out to see who had to sleep on the “cot” that was really just an air mattress.

Dinner was served family style and was just sort of ok. Also, try to pry baked beans from a British person. just try, it’s not gonna happen.

After dinner we went out for games and entertainment on the green.

Our girls loved the archery.

Frankie even got a bullseye. It was on someone else’s target, but still. 😂

I had to go to the car for something and it was just all done up so pretty.

I ❤️ outdoor lights.

The castle was behind us, you can kind of see it behind the trees.

We ate in the medieval lodge, but they also offered a fish and chips truck to grab quick munchies, which I also found adorable.

They offered free tea, coffee, and Cadbury hot chocolate starting at 8, so we went and partook.

Look at us glamping.

We watched a fun story teller while we enjoyed our hot chockey.

They also had a fun scavenger hunt for kids.

When they completed the mystery word “trebuchet,” they were able to get little button prize.

Our night of glamping was fun, but cold. They gave us one extra blanket that we gave to Delaney because Adi and Frankie decided to share one of the beds. Then I’m the middle of the night Adi moved to the air mattress and took the extra blanket with her. Anyway, I’m not sure why they didn’t provide more blankets, but that’s my only complaint.

It was a little speedy, but it included our day at the castle, parking, breakfast buffet in the medieval lodge, plus all the extra nighttime activities, so I think it was totally worth it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
