A Wigan & American Sunday

We had breakfast at our hotel Sunday morning and headed to church. It was in Wigan, in a tiny building tucked into a tiny neighborhood with a tiny parking lot. We’ve been to 4 wards in Europe now and this was, by far, the friendliest. We’re so glad we happened upon it because it wasn’t in our plan to go to this building but the times ended up fitting better with our schedule. A member of their bishopric spoke and he is a professional rugby player and had some great stories. And the Relief Society is the same Relief Society in England. ❤️

We stayed south of Manchester that night, so we met up with papa for an American style lunch at Hickory’s.

We got a kick out of seeing their interpretation of American style.

They weren’t far off, though they did include mushrooms and tomato on their breakfast platter.

And no soda refills - very un-American.

You still liking your candids there, Smilin’ Jack? 😂

Matt got a pulled pork sandwich.

And I had 3am mac and cheese. It had bacon bits and chicken tenders on top, and then you pour maple syrup over it. It was different and good, but not really American style unless you’re just going for fattening, and then I guess it is.

They had it decorated like an American restaurant and it was huge and busy.

Then had popcorn machines and a theater room playing Disney movies for the kids.

And then it was time to drop papa back off for real. We had the best time and are so grateful for his generosity that made this trip a reality. Feeling so blessed!

Also, Corn in the USA - love it.

We had a 2 hour drive down to the Cocked Hat Hotel where I didn’t take a single picture. We were all pretty tired from going, going, going for 2 weeks and it was a nice, quiet evening.

Matt and I went for a long walk and talked about all the things and then we slept well in our little 2 room suite.

Debby is right. We sure did.

Plus, Shell, I do like me some 'candids'. I'm not a prissy foo foo like some people I know.

SeaCruisin' will ride again in July, 2024. Hooah!!
