Thursday, march 1 - zoo field trip

we went up to the national zoo for our first field trip for preschool.
i had remembered that grandpa was coming wednesday night, and i remembered that our field trip was on thursday, i just didn't remember them in conjunction with each other.
thankfully, grandpa is pretty easy going, so he came along for the ride.
fashion-plate-franks on the ride up.
sunglasses are so much more comfortable when they're upside down!
i picked up abby and we headed out for the 2 hour drive. we watched tangled and all was well.

first zoo photo-op.
addie declined to be in this picture, but i thought abby and lily looked so cute!
we all loved the zebra's!
(i also love my instagram app!)
i remembered my camera again when we went into the reptile house.
the turtles were a favorite!

the kids were begging for lunch, (i was hungry too!) so we stopped and ate on some benches by the elephants. the kids had fun following the elephant tracks and watching them while we ate our lunch.

the big girls sat on this statue and then franks wouldn't leave until she had a turn too.
she's funny.

group picture (annie didn't come).
this was towards the end of the day and sweet abby was ready to go home. every time i would scoot her back next to the group she would scooch herself away. :(
abby, lily, kale, addie, scott, and anderson.
again, franks wouldn't leave until she got her picture in front of the lion.
it's a good thing she's so photogenic and cute!

our last stop was the farm area. we were all tired and ready to go home.

grandpa helped me navigate and we didn't even get lost on the way home! yay for grandpa!
then he suggested that we go out to eat, yay for grandpa!
we went to rustic river here in leonardtown. the food was absolutely delicious. then at 8, (we got a late start) they had a "comedy hour" and it was the most crude, offensive thing ever! we got boxes and i quickly took the kids to the car while matt and grandpa paid. it was such a disappointing end to a nice dinner!
