on this day

*17 years ago i was pregnant with a lexi-lu. i wasn't due until june 15th and i had no idea that i was about to become a mom the next day! i wasn't ready at all!
*5 years ago i was pregnant with a 9 day old baby. i had just found out at a late baby appointment that her amniotic fluid was low and i was heading to the hospital to be induced. the really stupid part? i was already having contractions and i really wish i would have just stayed home and let nature work her course! fear for baby's safety is a powerful thing,
i am so thankful that i have 2 beautiful and healthy june 3rd girls!

it's been a busy few days, and when i got home from church today it kinda felt like i had just run a major race. small breath, and the race goes on!

on friday sweet alecia offered to watch my girls so i could work on my lesson. it was really nice and i got a lot done. just before 12, delaney fell asleep and i made the executive decision to let her sleep and either let addie flip school (i am the worst pre k parent ever!) or take her late (she ended up flipping). then i got to sit in a cool, quiet house and learn about amazing women throughout history - Heavenly Mother, eve, women in scriptures, early latter day saint women, and modern women. it was a great morning.

i picked these girls up from playing all morning and they are so silly!
i love the way that delaney watches her silly big sisters.
addie and frankie don't always get the whole "this is not a video camera," thing. they move around during picture time, a lot.

after frankie got out of the stroller, delaney thought she might like a turn. she immediately regretted it.
but mama addie wasn't letting her get away that easy!
delaney loves to go outside and has taken to crying at the door anytime anyone dares to leave without her.
she throws a mean fit.
"ok addie, are you gonna let me out?"
anywho, lexi left for work at 4. and christian left for the temple trip (hooray!) at 3.
but dang, i miss those two!
they had a seminary party monday, were home on tuesday, both worked wednesday, chris worked thursday and lexi went to work on a school project, and then both were gone on friday.
that's a lot!
it's all good, but this mama's not quite ready to let go. times are changing though, and i know that we'll figure it out. those are all good things, so it'll be okay. we're always changing.

i tortured the girls with hamburgers and potato salad for dinner that night. matt was there too, but he wasn't traumatized by my potato salad. finally, matt convinced addie to eat it while holding her nose, so frankie gave that a try and managed to get down a few bites.
these bad eaters!
when we hang out at home we often have messy faces. those messy faces have been colorful lately, what with all the sidewalk chalk and window crayons on our glass doors.
3 goofy girls, dancing to wreck it ralph.
kori gave us her big kid carseats, so delaney has moved up to a big girl seat! still rear facing, but still a big girl! we moved her baby seat inside, on its way out to the shed until it expires in september, when we'll turn it in for a coupon for a booster seat for addie. for when she ever weighs more than 40 lbs, you know.
cute nerd!
on saturday matt worked, lexi took the sat's and then went to work, and i figured chris would be working, but he wasn't needed. yay! i had promised lisa i would drive meghan where she needed to be, cause she was taking the sat's also, and lisa was helping with the danver wedding at the church all day. i had planned to go to the commissary with all the girls after dropping meg off, but thankfully christian was home, and thankfully he readily agreed to watch the girls! and thankfully meghan was ready right before naptime, so they slept most of the time i was gone. kohls (birthday girl cloths), dollar tree (birthday balloons and party supplies), and commissary (birthday/party food, weekly essentials) and home again.

when i picked meghan up, i passed by the fairgrounds and saw that they were doing a grocery auction at 5:30. i had no business going, i still had my lesson to polish, but i really wanted to check it out and they're not doing another one until the fall. so i coaxed laura into going with me. :) i tried to get a group, but 2 hours before the auction is probs not the best time to invite people. that's life!

we had a really good time and got some good deals.
lots of seafood - tilapia for $2/lb, 12 crabcakes for $10 (and they're good!), angus beef (for amy's reunion philly cheeseteaks) for $2/lb. i was happy.
chris took the little girls to the pool until matt finally made it home, so i took delaney to the auction with me. she was a good girl! she tore the wrapper off my huge can of peaches, shredded it, and then piled it into her sippy cup lid. whatever works!
church was nice. my lesson went well, and i'm glad to have it over with. since matt was at work, david kept delaney for me. this is how i found her in the foyer. :) the building was so hot!
delaney likes to hang out upstairs by herself . as long as the doors are shut, so she can only go into her room, and addie and frankie's room, i'm pretty good with it. today i checked on her and she was unloading wipes. i calmly told her to put the wipes away (because she's very sensitive, i try to be very calm), and went back to ma' buisness.
10 minutes later i went back to check on her and she was quietly reading and had put the wipes back into the container and the container back into her changing table basket! sweet, sweet girl!
laura took these to program into her phone. handsome boy!
lexi prepping. work it, girl!
17 years minus one day.
we took burgers and ice cream to mccombs for dinner tonight. it's always a fun, crazy time. she also had 4 extra kids over, and then lisa and meghan showed up to help joseph work on a project. laura's a very gracious host. matt made it home in time for dinner and we enjoyed some of our auction wares. and they were all good!

now i'm ready to move onto the next big thing - birthdays!
