phoenix - day 2

my lovely children, who never wake up early, woke up early the day after we stayed awake for 24 hours. i guess 7 isn't that early, especially since it's 10 our time, but when you get to bed late and had to wake up in the middle of the night to pump, it's kinda early.

anyhow, matt was already out wandering the grounds (without a phone, i might add), so christian and i decided to go explore (lex declined our invitation).
it was so beautiful!!!
they have a chess/checkers area so christian practiced being harry potter.
and eating a checker.
we are so funny.

have i mentioned how beautiful it was there?
and it smelled so good!
all those fresh flowers!
croquet, anyone?

meanwhile alli sent me this -
"i like blueberry muffins, mom!"
awwwww!
more of the gorgeous grounds.
and my awesome orange spray tan.
they have cool fire pits and nice chairs set up all along the patio.
after about 30 minutes, autumn texted, so we went back to get her and by that time matt was home.
so then we all went out for another stroll.
we met up with jackie and the girls hit the store for wedding day sustenance.
we shopped and ate and then made our way to the pool.
it is so amazingly wonderful to hang out at the pool after a looooong, dreary winter back home!
love this chic!
christian was jelly of our orange-ness. ;)
we hung out at the pool a little too long and i found myself running a tad short on time to get ready for the rehearsal.
no need to worry though, i'm training the boy up right.
we made it to the rehearsal with plenty of time to spare.

and plenty of time for pictures. :)
me and liz d., making a memory! ;)
(she likes to say "let's make a memory!")
and since i never take pics by myself, here ya go.
the venue was beautiful!
auto and i with our girls. :)
after the rehearsal, matt the designated driver started shuttling people up the road to the wrigley mansion (think spearmint gum people). i stayed back to facilitate and make sure cars were full and everyone knew what was going on. the last carful was these 3 guys - david, j's new brother-in-law dylan, and chris. dylan looks a lot like our friend joseph and i was trying to think of a covert way to take a picture of him. what better time than with just the 4 of us hanging out?! i told them to get ready for a pic and they were only too happy!
doesn't he look like joseph!!!
the mansion was beautiful, set up on a hill, and we got there just as the sun was going down.
perfect.
mr wrigley built the mansion, their 5th home, as a 50th anniversary present for his wife.
it was their smallest home, only like 16,000 square feet, or something ridiculously small like that.
so i love this picture.
sweet 8-year-old taylor wanted to take pics, so we asked her to take a picture of our family.
so uncle mark and dylan see us all staring at taylor and they stop to see whatever trick she's doing, not realizing that she's taking our picture.
we laughed so hard!
and i love the finger too. ;)
dinner was a super delicious mexican buffet and dessert, soooo good!
and the excited bride and groom.
after dinner we all headed back to our rooms and auto and i hung out on the patio writing our matron of honor speech/toast. nothing like waiting till the last minute! i found an awesome one on youtube that we changed a little bit and made our own. after practicing it several times, we headed over to paul's cottage where the whole darn gang was hanging out and stayed there till midnight'ish.
next up:
wedding day!!!
