day 5 - disney's hollywood studios (formerly mgm)

by wednesday i had accepted the fact that no matter how hard we tried, we were not going to get anywhere on time. so i was fine when we didn't arrive at the hollywood studios (which i think i shall always call mgm) until 9:45. we split up from matt and mindy so they could wait in the bag check line and we could run and get fast passes. i am sometimes crazy about vacations, especially when i have an idea of how i want things to go, and disney was no exception. but is it weird that i was the only one willing to really book-it over to get the fast passes? alexis and sydney were kind of humoring me, but the rest of the kids, no dice. oh well, i had fun. after the fast passes were obtained, we met up with minnie mouse. addie was in a much better mood this day and happened to love minnie!
i tried to put frankie down so she could stand next to addie for the picture but the professional photographer there said she couldn't because she didn't have shoes on... ummm, she doesn't even really walk, but whatever.

we rode on "the great movie ride" where i told anyone who would listed that my sister used to work on this ride, and then after that the big girls wanted to try their luck at american idol. we didn't know how it worked, or that you had to try out (and actually be good!) ahead of time. but it was all set up like the real american idol and it was fun.the babies enjoyed dancing.
outside american idol they had all these busts set up. i don't even know what to say about matt's pose.
because kissing oprah is much more dignified. ;)
and then i saw betty white and i was all, "sorry, i need another picture!!!"
these pictures show addie and izzy's volatile relationship pretty well. addie is a particular child, she like things a certain way. and izzy likes to annoy her. and hit, choke, and bite her, but we're working on all that. :) so here's addie playing by herself and izzy... trying to "hug" her?
and then there's the nice apology hug, that addie's just not feeling. those two!
the parks are really so cute. and so is that guy holding that baby thar'.
strike a pose!

when you stood on that grey box it would rain and you could perform your own scene from "singing in the rain."
which we all did.
then we went to a stunt show called "lights, cars, action." i liked it well enough, until later when we went on the backlot tour and discovered that they had taken out the golden girls home to make room for this attraction. boo!!!
ps - the backlot tour used to be soooo much better!
it was pretty hot and sticky waiting for the stunt show.

franks fell asleep until izzy came and sat by mindy. oopsie.

i was so sure the backlot tour was gonna be awesome that we decided to do that next. and when they asked for adult volunteers, i eagerly raised my hand and got to be part of a show.
~me and sydney in our super hot (literally!) jumpsuits waiting to go on.
what's funny about this is that when i came to disneyworld 10 years ago with alexis and christian and my sisters, i volunteered for the exact same show and got the exact same part. and they haven't changed it at all.
did you know p-diddy works at mgm???
matt took video of our performance, but i'll spare ya. i haven't even watched it yet... should be fun.
the rest of the backlot tour.

not sure why addie always scowls, but whatever.
we had to get a picture with sully! we got in line and the line wasn't too bad, but then they had to go take a 10 minute break. by that point we had already waited 10 minutes, and you just can't walk away from that much of a time investment!

cute coke bottle sprayer.
addie has taken to disrobing as a form of protest. again.
after we got our rockin roller coaster fastpasses that morning, matt ran to the new toy story ride and used the last 2 tickets to get fast passes there (since he and mindy had waited in the bag check line). so while the big kids went to ride the roller coaster, matt took franks, and mindy and i got to take addie and izzy on the toy story ride.

the lines, the price, the stress, all totally worth it to see how happy she was on that silly ride!!!

it's tough getting pictures while trying to help her shoot targets. and appreciate the pure joy written all over her face.

she loooooooved it!

all worth it!
they had everything so cute in there, all huge toys, just like andy's room.

after that it was getting late. the big kids were still riding the tower of terror and the roller coaster and ben was done. so mindy went to go get him, and we took the 3 little girls to the street they have set up to look like san francisco. there was no one there and the babies had fun running back and forth across the street and up and down the stairs of each house. izzy said one house was hers and we told her to open the door. she said "it's locked!" and addie said "this is unacceptable!" they are so funny!
we tried to get a picture with the "city" behind us, but it didn't really turn out.

mgm closed at 10 and by that time we were all ready to go. and that ended our disney 2011 fun. :)
